Wiring Roof Lights

Hey everyone I dont know If im putting this in the right thread..

Im in the process of buying a roof basket and putting some Lights on them...


The BIG questions is How are the guys that have the LIghts on there roof running the wires to power them up?

 

I'd be interested in knowing this, too.

Uhhh just saw this on my friend's Tacoma. There should be a weather strip on our roofs (1 on each side). Peel it back a bit and drill a hole closest to where the power wires will be coming through. Seal it up with some silicone.

 

ah ok ok and do i just get super glue? to stick back that weather slip?

 

not to sure drillinga hole in the roof is the best idea. i was thinking maybe running the wires down the pillar into the engine compartment. dont wanna risk a leak later or something.

 

...How are you going to get it on the roof? They make silicon for a reason...

 

No need to drill, there are pre-existing holes that you can run them through. That is unless you are using the OEM roof rack. The hole I used is roughly in the middle of the roof's troughs under the weatherstripping. Definitely finish it up with some silicone though. The weatherstripping will go back down without any glue, it just snaps back in.
