Cold Start Problems

    Have a 16 dcsb mt sport. On cold days if i dont get it to start on first turn its a beast to get going. Seems like motor floods a bit or something. Normally have to wait 10min and try again, not letting off the starter.. never had a "new" vehicle have this problem. Bit nervous of when the battery gets older and a cold streak hits if ill be out of luck some day.. Anyone else have this problem? Wondering if its an atkins cycle artifact or something else..

    My 2nd gen used to do the exact same thing randomly also when it was new..

    Possible bad tank of gas, (water in gas) You can try Sea Foam, and Alcohol, (red bottle, not yellow)

    Ive heard that turning off the headlights helps start in the morning, it draws from the battery at the same time the starter motor is trying to turn over.

    Fuel might be it. Its not electrical.. feels like the fuel air ratio is not resetting from the last time the truck was turned off (imagining a choke setting)... if thats possible or it was just tuned horrible for cold weather climates...

    Which battery do you have? It's possible you don't have enough CCA to turn it over the first time.

    Batt seems fine. Turns over good just doesnt catch. Thinking fuel

    Have you done the crank sensor recall? 16's had it.

    The 16's and 17's sometimes have high pressure fuel pump issues, super hard to diag.

    Try turning just the ignition on for a few seconds before cranking and let the fuel pump run. Seemed to help in the past.

    Happened again this morning. Definately a fuel problem. Can anyone try turning off their truck within 1-2 seconds of starting and see if its hard to start again?
