The only real bad classes are any 100 level courses, I keep taking them online to avoid as much of the nonsense as I can.

    What degree?

I realized civilian jobs suck for the most part and told the boss to shove it little over a year ago. Also realized GI with kicker pays almost as much as I was making.

Plus, after I exhaust my months, I’ll get what I paid into the Montgomery back, should help with some mods. :D

BA Secondary Ed & English (Creative Writing) - double major yo. Writing evals was amazing, especially since I always gave the rated NCO a spoof NCOER, usually to break the tension of being evaluated. I completed this degree while I was a BOLC instructor.

BS OLL (Organizational Leadership in Learning) basically how to be a dean or department head, never gonna use it as a high school teacher. but the principal does like to brainstorm with me, i think she's threatened a little. she wouldn't be if she knew exactly how little i want her job. I got this degree while I was an ROTC instructor, the host school paid for it, didn't even touch army tuition assistance.

BS Communications - so good, lots of fun. my mentor was a former Miss Hawaii. lots of public speaking, i started this one in Kosovo and finished it up while I was a recruiter.

BS Psychology - started with aberrant behaviors and ended with small group dynamics. way more useful. this was the degree I started during high school and finished before I was a corporal.
    and...

Masters CNM - Certified Nurse Midwife. that's right folks, I was a midwife. my currency has fallen off, but it was worth it.
Associate-turned BSN (decided to go all the way right here)
Started the course work, smoked most of it. clepped a lot of my core shit and immediately deployed to Haiti. doing distance-learning while you're in Haiti is weird, our attached PROFUS doc proctored my tests after I sweet-talked him. the fast that he was an OB/GYN didn't help at first, but hecame around and later I asked him to be my grad mentor.
I did a tour in Africa (Cote D'Ivoire) and most of my time there counted as clinical work, which rocked. one of the SOST docs proctored my tests there

Grad program while I was a Drill Sergeant. I slept in my dinner with school work all over the table next to me. if you think drill sergeant duty sucks try it while completing graduate work in a medical degree.
Studying for the national exam was the hardest I've ever had to work for in my life... for anything, and by all accounts I aced it. I literally bathed (well showered) in champagne when I got my results.

I delivered my two oldest sons (in a hospital, I'm not a hippy). the first time the doc was watching me for the whole process, she said she had never seen such a cooperative and beautiful delivery. no medications (I'm a Bradley Method guy) and i performed the entire procedure, even sutures. the nurses freaked out when I came in, identified myself as the husband, scrubbed, and told them i was taking over. the doc was a total rockstar and talked like she was doing play-by-play commentary in an OR the whole time
my wife and I wrote one of my college instructors on how it went, and she sent us a beautiful letter with a big red A+ at the top. that's framed in my office at home.

My oldest son was a real champ, super easy delivery.
My second-oldest was an even easier delivery, in a real hurry, we barely got to a room. the doc for that one was taking a nap or watching golf. total time for final labor and procedure complete in less than an hour. my wife is an awesome baby machine, once again total control, no medication.

took me around six years to get this degree, but it was my favorite and my wife constantly lets me know she loves me more for doing it.
besides delivering my sons I have done nothing else with it. before you ask why I did it, i'll just tell you: i wanted my wife to know i loved her, and i wanted it to be less of a medical procedure and more of our children joining our family

i didn't get to deliver my youngest.
he was born while i was running along hesco barriers in the middle of a three-day off-and-on attack on my outpost. my commander delivered the news via radio while i was running carl g and mortar rounds to fighting positions.

GIS is one of those skills that pays the bills. I used to run a GIS shop for our power company. GE Worldview. The GIS architects made more money than I did...and I was their boss!

for a doctorate? there's no value added for any degree i am willing to pursue

after working around doctors and professors in many fields, i can safely state i want no part of it.
    is it more money? sure.
but i'm not motivated by money

i'll do another grad program for secondary ed, but it's because i love the work
