Ive had bad luck with bolts lately too. I managed to fubar the inside of the mount where the stock tow hook bolts thread into so now I can't use one of those bolts to mount my bumper. No idea what happened, was just tightening the bolt in and on the last few turns it suddenly went from tough to turn, to very loose to turn lol. I hate that feeling. I think it was already compromised from using that hook to get winched a few times.

So my bumper is mounted using 9/10 bolts, I figure that's good enough

Cleaned it all up and that leftover gasket goop looks likes its been there forever. when I was cleaning around it, it slid to the side easily. Gave it a little tug and was free. So far nothing. Nearly positive its coming from the back of the valve cover. Going to keep an eye on it and start putting together a parts list for the VCG.

Ouch. Could always size it up one but agree, 9/10 good enough.

I think I'll just put a 1" thick washer/spacer on it and that way it'll go in right. It got fubared on the last few turns so it's just the last few threads in the mount that are messed up. If I shorten the bolt a bit with a spacer it should work.

Getting it out though is a pain, have to pry down on the flange with a pry bar while backing it out slowly with a wrench.

It's already a 1/2" wide, 3" long bolt...one of those big ones that mounts the recovery hook. If the spacer doesn't work I'll look into doing that

I'm planning out some future in-cab, power-hungry mods like a subwoofer and potentially an inverter and other random stuff...

Where are good spots to fish low-gauge (big wire) through the firewall into the cab without drilling/cutting rubber boots or grommets (excessively)?

    that sounds hardcore!
the only fancy thing in my cab is an obsolete 6 disk kenwood CD changer that still works but will not hookup with the head unit that had to be replaced long ago
by still works i mean the magazine comes out with the motor and goes back in
very hi-tech in its day i think
    got it in Germany

Yeah, I have a 1000W Pure Sine wave inverter that I'm not sure if I want to put in the cab or in the camper in the rear... but the rear is figured out with welding cable from the battery to the front of the bed with some type of waterproof Anderson plug to connect to the Vagabond Drifter.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
    Question for the group...

Map lights and Dome lights... the Festoon type we have in our trucks. I bought some from SuperbrightLED... is there some type of funky shit I have to do, to make them work, that they don't tell you about?

I think you need a resistor inline to allow them to work without the key in the ignition. My leds just flicker with the key out.

I THINK you'll have to do the same as I did with my 2003 double cab...

Solder on TWO 100K-Ohm, 1-Watt resistors to the overhead DOME light. (Or one 200K-Ohm)
Solder on ONE 100K-Ohm, 1-Watt resistor each MAP light (closest to rear view mirror).

If you don't, it may work, but the ECU can't tell that they are on and the 30-minute disable of interior light function/feature will not activate and the LEDs will stay on until your battery dies.

First photo below is the dome light LED replacement:
