Alright since I always expect a “lol noob...” reply cause y’all are dicks lol...

Does anyone utilize the hex bar? Never hear it mentioned in here. If so, when ? And what kind of weight/set?

Also @PackCon can the body change and decide to not agree with something you’ve always ate? I’ve been having really really really bad gas the past 2 weeks. I haven’t ate anything new.

would it be the surplus of protein since I’m trying to make gains? Or red meat aka beef cause it? I’ve always ate greens like brussel sprouts and broccoli so it shouldn’t be those.

any ideas? And what I can do to fix it? Eat some yogurt at night or? You’re the digestion dude and I need help lol

Yeah the 100 diastolic might be a concern. I'm 130-80 usually even as a smoker.

    Short answer: yes.

it could be the increase in protein. Your body can only process and digest so much.

Fit/active people tend to have lower BP so for me 135/100 is pretty elevated wheras for a less active person it OK.

Yes. Gut bacteria can change at any time. You can develop allergies or intolerances at any time as well.

Gas signifies a gut bacteria issue. I’d take a look at your food tracking and see what may have changed in the last few weeks. Look at what you drink too. Artificial sweeteners, caffeine, energy drinks can mess up your gut bacteria too. Be findful of any brand changes and even things like sauces you use.

I’m not big on yogurts because our foods have been so irradiated and processed very little good bacteria remains alive.

The only way I was able to identify foods that were causing me problems was stripping my diet down to only whole foods then slowly introduce things back in. I found out things like raw garlic were a problem. Things I wouldn’t normally think of until I took them out and put them back.

Right now I’d just see if you can’t track your foods and symptoms to see if you find a link that way.

You can try probiotics but I find a lot of them don’t really work. Its hard to find a good brand where the cultures stay alive on the shelf.

I agree. Diastolic being elevated is a bit concerning.

I haven’t Changed anything. Still Whole Foods freshly cooked. It’s driving me insane

breakfast is freshly cooked every day cause I enjoy that time. It’s just eggs, spinach, turkey and OJ

then for lunch it’s either a ground beef patty or a chicken thigh with sweet potatoes, rice and greens

    then dinner is the same

I drink a ton of water. Over a gallon a day easily. And eat oranges and bananas daily as well.

but somewhere out of the blue my gut got all jacked up and I ain’t a fan lol. So it seems like yogurt may be my only option :pout:

Been hitting the sauna the last couple days to get the sweats going. Think I'm gonna start doing this daily, or as close to daily as I can even after my drug test. Maybe post-workout saunas. Go turn it on, workout, then sauna. I don't gotta pay for the electricity for it directly so fuck it if its on for an hour before i go in lol

Hahahaha man it’s not cool to know this drug test could make or break you but it is low key funny too to see how much of a headache weed can be and how hard you’re trying to make this happen. I hope you pull this off lol you’re doing everything you can.

Ya it's really stupid lol. I think I may take my last home-test tomorrow. I really want to get this over with so I can know what's next. I would REALLY like to call my boss up and give him my 2 weeks notice so I can fully stop giving a shit about my current job... but sadly I can't do that just yet.

Ah. I thought you were saying since you were an athlete that bp was okay.

If that was the case I was going to claim athlete status and call it good.

Dude, I peaked around 300 pounds and have smoked since I was 15. I've never been above 135-85.

    No new sauces or seasonings?

You can also try a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar a day for your gut bacteria.

If you go for yogurt READ labels. That isle is just a disguised ice cream isle.

I’ll try to think of other things I’ve tried in the past. I had to strip my pantry and cabinets down and start over at one point and toss all my sauces in the fridge and basically start eating food only seasons with salt, pepper, olive oil or butter.
@Supra TT has dealt with gut issues as well maybe he can chime in.

If you make any dietary changes only make one at a time. Like maybe do your same breakfast but no spinach. But keep the rest of the day the same.

Stress messes with your gut as well.

I think they are great! I personally don't program them because of specificity and trying to compete in power lifting. But lets say I was an athlete just looking to get stronger, they have similar activation to all the same muscle groups that a straight bar would have. I also believe the risk reward benefit is much better, in letting more individuals to maintain a better position and not get pulled over causing lumbar flexion. As for weights and sets I would program them the same way you do deadlifts, most people can do more on a hex/trap bar so I would say program them like any other major compound lift.

I recall you recently adding in OJ, OJ (well, Vit C) can cause gas if too much is ingested for the body. I'd start with that.

As for my digestion problems, they are triggered by many things, some days it's fine, others not so much. It's much better cutting, I believe I am just eating too much and causing digestion issues is primarily that (for me).

    I’m normally 100-110/60-70.
    It just spikes at times.

I’m perfect when I eat well. So obviously the answer is to keep doing that. I just have not read any research that supports dietary changes influence BP like that. Excessive sodium intake can, especially if consumed with carbs due to the excessive water retention increasing blood volume but my sodium is not going that high.

Would be nice to know the answer so I can better avoid issues moving forward.

I know my damn BP is high and I keep forgetting to check it. It's never alarming when I do it, but I am pretty sure I am usually 125/85, especially on my bulks. (Get it checked ever 8 weeks at the donation center for blood)

You’re right on adding OJ... I’ve always drank OJ (though haven’t daily for probably a year or more) so you have a point... I’ve been eating more as well.

I’ll cut out the OJ and see what happens.
