Maybe, though I feel like I'll be working till I die, since I made the choice to leave 10 years of AD service and that retirement to pursue a career in nursing, RN and eventual NP or PA after that, but like you said my dad told me just take my disability check and dump it in the stock market since I dont need it to live day to day.

    Your title says resale.

    Your post talks trade in.

    Not the same.

20k is your ready cash, right? Not your 6-9 months of emergency cash, nor your currently on track retirement accounts that from the sounds of it are well into the hundreds of thousands by now assumed?

The dealer where I used to work as a detailer once had a 2005 RAV4 listed for about $2,900 over fair market value, in late 2018-early 2019...

Huh, the $20k is savings, I consider it my necessary emergency cash if need be but Im not touching it as when I'm done with school and settled in my new career I will be looking at buying a house, etc. I'm still putting into it and my TSP from AD, so yes? Not sure what you are getting at, not hundreds of thousands as I started late, but six figures currently, plan on contributing more once done with school. Also hoping to score a VA gig and can get matching contributions as well as credit for my 10 years active duty, we shall see.

They also had a 2007 Tacoma RC 5-lug with like 52K miles listed for about $12K at roughly the same time has the ‘05 RAV.

My man, when it debuted and the thread started here I said AZTEK was the first thing I thought of.

Aztek and Delorean had a love child.

You stated you had the means...that implies your fiscally solid, which generally implies you have a retirement plan, budget and emergency fund of at least six months cost of living in place. If you are 30 you need 10s of thousands in retirement accounts, in your 40s hundreds of thousands, and 50s a million or two to typically retire in your 60s “with means”. I was questioning your $20k as being “savings” as for most people who can afford a Tacoma their emergency fund (6 months of life cost) is more than that.

I live at home, full time student, VA medical with 70% disability, living expenses are very different than a traditional 30 year old. That $20k would last me a year if push comes to shove. Thanks to TSP and starting in my 20s my retirement is in good shape, but could be better. I would doubt the majority of Tacoma owners have $20k in their emergency fund especially given the majority of Americans don't have even one month's savings for an emergency, but that's speculation. Like I said I'm not in perfect shape, but I would say I'm financially sound/stable, we could have another 2008 and all of my pretty retirement gone, I also don't have a mortgage and all the volatility that comes with that as well.

Well the good resale is certainly helping you, but if I read the numbers right you've still lost $13,700 total on all the trades. You do you but that's an expensive hobby to me lol.

True but I know people that piss way more than that away in other things including unnecessary mods ;) never said I didn’t lose money and yes resale, would have lost that in one trade with a domestic.

I have a 19 Tacoma 4x4 OR (1,600 miles), a 2013 Camaro RS/SS (2,600 miles) and a 2007 4Runner 4x4 V8 (105,000 miles). My neighbors think I'm crazy. But I'm single, no kids, well paying job, 401k at $70k, Pension of $60k, $120k in Savings and no mortgage on the house. So I treat myself to what I want. Cant take it with ya...
