No joke. It's my truck and it doesn't bother me one bit. Sorry if my fix doesn't meet your standards. Lol

That would have been better if it had been Busch Light. You fellas are high rollers.

Mine done this. I could hear a pop everytime I sat my elbow on it. I followed a write up on here I believe and used a Walmart fiberglass kit. It was easy and enough to do both driver and passenger doors.

Actually it was this, but I didn’t do any plastic welding or remove the piece from the door panel since my oem vinyl was fine. I just scuffed the back side and laid the fiberglass.

I just went through the armrest repair for the second time. The first time I only fiberglassed the underside, it fell off within a year, I should of prepped the plastic so the fiberglass could bite onto the surface. Second time I sanded both sides of plastic with 80 grit sandpaper, plastiwelded the cracked armrest, wiped everything down with paintprep, then put 2 layers of fiberglass and matting on tops and the underside. Yeah it sounds like overkill but really not much more money or time since you've got everything apart already, sanded the fiberglass coated tops of the repaired armrests and contact cemented on the replacement vinyl pieces sourced from ebay. I also epoxied the edges of the vinyl down on the backside of the armrest, I obviously do not want to do this job again lol.

I think the fiberglass will eventually loosen and come off. It drys very rigid where as the plastic flexes (hence the cracking). Also fiberglass does not want to stick to plastic, just sayin not bashing.

No need to get touchy. It's not my standards, it whether it was done correctly or not. If you don't want comments on your work, don't post pictures.

Chris is correct. The fiberglass doesn't adhere to plastic very well. The first time I did the repair, I just laid a small patch over the cracked area and it started to lift as I was putting the panel back together. The second time I did it, I wrapped the glass around the contour of the armrest so that it almost encased the whole thing. Much stronger repair and even if it doesn't adhere and separates from the plastic, the fiberglass is now structural with the plastic acting as more of a skeleton structure for building my repair around it. I think I mentioned this in my original repair thread, but a good point to reiterate for anyone that thinks a small patch is all that is necessary.

Plastic weld with stainless mesh and it's done for life, harbor freight sells a small kit for like 12 or 14 bucks

Dave......"correctly"? Who the hell cares? I can bet mine will be holding tight long after all these fiberglass and glue jobs fail. My truck is not a street queen, it has long since paid it's dues. It has scratches, dents clunks and squeaks. I guess we can't all have such high standards. Enjoy your ride.

I am curious to know why you used a CMC plate for a template though. LOL

I guess that is for me? It's not a template. It's just cut to the curve of the arm rest so no edges hung out to catch my delicate, tender elbows on my long drives through Correctville.

What arm rest does that follow the curves of? Definitely not the one it's attached to.

    You should sell these.

    Omfg, that's hysterical!

    :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I was thinking more of some sheet metal and fiberglass mat under the the armrest.
    Edit:
after reading through more of the thread, I see the glad it's not a good option...

I am quite hurt that you don't like my work. I lost sleep over it bruh! (That's sarcasm if you didn't get it) You seem to be really hung up on this. Maybe we should hug it out?

Dude, you post your garbage fix on a forum where people go to learn how to do things, presumably, the right way. What reaction did you expect? Accolades?

You'd have spent probably less time doing it correctly. No care, or finesse was put into that trash.
