About a couple of months ago I went to get my oil changed at the dealership and ask what they would give me for my 2019 TRD pro with 17k. They offered 38k. Wasn’t even a year and it drop 10k from when I bought it. I wanted to trade it in for a 2020 Pro. It was going to be a 13k difference.

My Ex GFs Son bought that exact Aztek, I thought he was crazy and tried to talk him out of it. Naturally it was a horrible piece of shit that did nothing but cause him frustration and cost money.

My 2013 sport cost 25k with only 54k miles last year. I got it from a friend who is a private dealer. Looking for a nice 2013-2015 Tacoma with a shell is tough! I got reallyyyyyy lucky!

My 14 was just rear ended and maybe totaled. They say I need a new frame and few other things a long list for $20k. Have not heard from their insurance yet. If you don't mind what did you get for yours? PM me if you would like.

There are only 2 that are less than $28k, one having 124000 miles at $20k the other being a 4wd Sr5 access cab and was right at $25k. You said teens, don't see any in the teens, and mid 20's, there were those only 2 one being a ridiculously high mileaged one and the other a Sr5 accesscab, so yes bullsh*t, dude.

Hmmm. That's car salesman jargon. It's their job to make money so they will say whatever to boost their commission. In that one statement he is undervaluing your trade in and at the same time making it seem like they offer great discounts on their new inventory which they probably don't. Also a lot of people are looking at the incentives on new vehicles VS used and opting for new so their used inventory might be getting full at the moment. I would give it some time and do some research on your vehicles trade in value at other dealerships and online and use that to negotiate. The time of year and time of the month are always a factor to consider as well. Always be prepared to walk out if they won't budge a hungry sales person will try to keep you planted in that seat until the deal is made so use that to your advantage.

As far as everyone talking about money just live within your means and save for future/emergencies but also find a balance to enjoy the fruits of your labor from time to time. Being debt free is great and there are a variety of ways to achieve that goal without obsessing over it.

Last year (Nov 2018) I traded my 2018 RWD TRD Sport against a 2019 TRD OR DC as I wanted to upgrade to 4x4. The Sport was 12 months old and had about 5000 miles on it. The difference in price was pretty close to the price increase 2018 to 2019 and the upcharge for 4x4. I don't know what the Sport sold for off of their used lot, but it sold in about 2 weeks. I know this because it's still on my CarFax account and it continues to report activity.

I think it's all about how much the dealership wants to sell a new vehicle. If new popular models are in short supply don't expect a super high trade in. On the other hand if it's near year end and there's plenty of inventory on the lot you will probably see a better deal.

In many cases you can get more for your truck selling by yourself. The offset to that (in my state) is you don't pay sales tax on the trade in value. That can add thousands to what you pay for the new truck.

$29k all day everyday for resale.. the dealer was cutting $5k for their profits/costs, as they cant seel above market value of 29k... now if you were doing a straight trade, and they were upgrading you, they might get you 26-27k...

My point is they are out there and you have to be quick to jump on it. And if you plan on modifying it, changing it then wheeling it, then buy into a lower priced vehicle. Because all lose value.
