I picked up my 2019 a few weeks ago and I have noticed that it wants to pull to the left and I need to keep the steering wheel turned about 5 degrees to the right to keep it straight. It is a very subtle pull but still there.

I made an appointment to have the alignment checked. Waited about an hour and they came out and said, "Your tire pressure was off by 9 lbs from the right to the left and that would make it pull"

I said, "I know that is not true for 2 reasons. I checked the tire pressure this morning and they were all dead on 29psi on all 4 corners and if one side was down by 9 like you said, the TPMS would have gone off."

He replied with some BS about how the tech gets paid more to do an alignment, so I should trust him...

I told him to do and alignment and I told him I was not happy for obvious reasons.

I sat in the waiting room and listened to the exit advisor try to sell every single person on a cabin air filter for $60, stating theirs was just filthy and really needed to be changed.

Alignment is now finished and guess what.. Front right toe was not in spec. It tracks nice and straight now. But I noticed on the ride home it seemed to be a little bumpier. They decided to pump the PSI up to 36/37 instead of the manufacturer recommended 29.

If free oil changes for life weren't part of my purchase agreement at this dealership I would probably never go back there. And if I do go for the free oil changes, I will be thoroughly inspecting pre and post service.

Those oil changes aren't free, you paid for them

considering the negotiated price was within a few dollars of other dealerships that did not offer free oil changes, I am going to count them as free. But if we want to do the math, the smallest difference in price was $23, so based on my driving habits, that would be about 30 oil changes over 10 years, so that is about 76 cents per oil change... So, I guess I did pay for them... If I incorporate the present value of a dollar discounted over the holding period, this obviously would alter the calculations.

But I guess if you meant I paid for them with frustration from dealing with an inept service department, then yes, they were quite pricey.

In all seriousness your free oil changes might cost you more in the long run. Not all dealerships are the same but I wouldn't let the ones close to me adjust the wheel on my wheelbarrow. The tried screwing you on an alignment and screwed up your tire pressure.

Also, their threshold for oil changes is 10,000 miles. I'm a big fan of sticking with 5,000 mile intervals, regardless of fancy oil type... So I have some decisions to make.

I had the same issue with alignment. They told me that the tread on my mud tires are always going to pull to the right

ive never had an alignment done by a Toyota dealer that I was satisfied with in my entire life, always had to go to another private shop to get the numbers and the wheel straight

Most of the free checks involve just a quick drive in the parking lot to see if your wheel is straight and it drives straight. If there going to put your truck on the alignment rack and hook up the sensors then you are definitely getting charged .

On a side note, the service department said that I only get one free alignment under warranty and was I sure I wanted to use it...? How dumb is that? No, I want to wait until it gets worse and ruins my tires.

And if you screw up this alignment, the next one better be free too...
