Also, 2017 was the first year of the 3rd Gen TRD Pro which lacks a fucking goddamn head scrunching moonroof (making it especially awesome)

Driving old junk I have no skin in the game but if I was forced to buy a newer truck I'd look for a 2011 personally.

 

The one in the middle looks nice. (Reasonably priced at $14k as well).

My 2008 still has its original frame. I mistakenly took care of it early on not knowing the frame corrosion would eventually extend to 2nd gen trucks and it's still in decent shape.

 

It’s the price we all pay for choosing Toyota. I’ve been Fluid Filming mine since new.

 

I think all vehicles are similar, just enough steel and paint to get to the end of the warranty.

FWIW, the reason I said 2011 is it's prior to the secondary air injection issues. How about some premature engine wear to go along with your frame rot? Plus I prefer stick shifts and vanity plays a part - the honeycomb grill is interesting.

 

I bought a bunch of Fluid Film and it came with a free Tacoma.

 

I’ve seen a few air injection issues over the years but I didn’t think it was a major sticking point for people, maybe I’m wrong.

I’m surprised I haven’t seen more people just toss the whole getup.

 

2015 Pro is a future classic.

2011 is my favourite model year overall. Aesthetically pleasing and a ton of configurations available.

 

I can definitely appreciate the available configurations on some of the earlier years.

Though it actually can be frustrating when buying used and you can’t find a truck packaged the way you want. On the newer ones you can usually look around a bit and get close a bit easier.
