Me too. Here is how I see it... every three years I have to take some turbos off for a day. Then right back on.

should be the same? Just more range for higher boost with “big fellas”. Be nice to see some dynos eventually comparing power between the two at same PSI boost etc.

I would love to see a 0-20mph drag race between all of the FI offerings. That's where this truck needs help.

That, or a dyno chart of each, focusing on the 0-3k rpm. This thing is a complete dog down low.

Is there any chance of passing emissions testing with the base kit? I unfortunately live in a county that mandates emissions testing, but am interested in the base kit.

Not in CA without a CARB sticker. How clean the vehicle actually runs is irrelevant. It's about passing a visual inspection. Basically it's a way for the state to generate money. I had a 1975 Camaro that I pus an LS in. They failed it because it didn't have a smog pump which was standard in 1975. Never mind that it ran WAY cleaner than stock. A referee station eventually allowed it.

I live in Missouri, so they are not as restrictive as CA. It is my understanding that the catalytic converters by the engine are for “warming up” and those dont do the main filtering. Maybe it depends on who does the inspection, but I have friends who replaced 4 converters with a 2 converter system and passed since the emissions were beneath the test values.

Looking good here with lots of new info. I was partial to superchargers (for no good reason really), but with level of care and testing going on for the turbos, not to mention the price, I may go that route. Looking forward to more updates.

I’ll be passing on this kit for a few reasons:

    1) For what this truck is to me, it’s not worth it. I’ll get a full size truck with a V8 for more power if I need it. For anything go fast, this truck is the last place I’d look.

    2) I’ve been the victim of new to market offerings in the past and paid for it dearly. I’m really interested to see how people running this kit like it in a few years and see how the engines hold up.

    3) The mechanical aspect of boosting a vehicle is easy, but the magic and real work of boosting a vehicle lies in the tune/tuner. I won’t ever boost a vehicle again without working with a local tuner. Every vehicle is different, every climate is different, and a canned tune for an engine like this that is controlled so much by the computer is not wise. I see the potential for a bunch of check engine lights and frustration.

    4) The limits of stock parts are unknown. While these engines do have forged connecting rods and crankshafts, the aluminum pistons are a huge concern to me. I foresee the same issues with these pistons as the hemi ones - the edges break because the top ring land is so close to the top.

    5) I need a CARB sticker. They are gold. For those saying they would remove the turbos, re-flash the ECU, and take the truck to be emission tested - you have no clue what you’re talking about.

    6) These trucks need power down low. Turbos traditionally lack low end torque. In my opinion, a supercharger would be a better choice for these engines.

Just my .02. Good luck to those willing to venture into the world of boost. It’s addictive, fun, and expensive.

You have added absolutely nothing to this thread.

You're right though, full boost at 1800rpms and 350ft lb of torque by 2000rpms will do nothing for the low end torque of this engine :jerkoff:
