What I like is the wood started as a dance floor had a second life in the family room and now a third life as a table in the same family room

Nice bread boards. Can't go wrong with poly finish. Mix 50/50 of paint thinner and poly and wipe it on. Will need extra coats but easy to do. Search for wipe on poly.

That looks nice. I would do some research ion an epoxy finish for wet areas. Think about wooden boat finishes. It may take longer to dry but should last longer. Temperature when the coating is apply could be a major factor for durability.
See what @TK-422 did for his table on a previous post 2 pages back and what @wilcam47 had posted with a link for total boat.com.

    Good luck

    Marine spar varnish.
You can also cut spar varnish with tung oil. Gives it a little better penetration and doesn't look as much like plastic wrap when all is said and done.

Waterlox for the table top if your wife is like mine and periodically puts in too much water, works good. Made a sign for the farm out of a slab and put 5-6 coats on using steel wool between coats, gives it a bar top finish.

    Is this stinky?
I ask because the wife would not let me finish the table until summer if it is. She is intolerant of oil based finishes. Otherwise it looks to be perfect

If its similar to epoxy when its drying. it has a smell, its not bad like oil based paint/finish but it does have a smell.

Thanks! Mostly white/red oak, some maple and cedar thrown in for good measure. 99% of it has been "rescued" from work.
