So, I went to wash my new Taco TRD Pro a little bit ago and the same automated car wash I've used for years. When I finished up, I notice the brushes had pulled loose the black rubber trim on the roof, just about the door. Anybody else have this happen?

Have you talked to the owners about the damages caused by the car wash?

Oh gawd. Totally sucks OP, but what the hell are you doing taking your new PRO through a touch car wash, your paint and truck must be screaming in agony.

Two things you can do, try to get the car wash to take responsibility (doubt that will go far), take it to Toyota and try to get it covered under warranty (if your service advisor is chill, don't think it would be an issue getting it covered).

I thought the Owners Manual says not to take sunroof equipped Tacoma's thru the car wash?

That sucks , I would definitely talk with the management about the incident

This is why I like my car wash I use , when pulling up to the tunnel I tell them no brushes please . They turn the brushes off and just use the soap / chemical sprayers

That happened to me at Delta Sonic. I didn't even realize it until I noticed the trim in the bed of the truck. "Where the hell did that come from? Oh....."

Most car washes are responsible for damage to Factory parts.

I have had this happen to the trim that covers the rain gutter on the roof. The trim just pops right back in.

Finding a touchless auto car wash is impossible around me for some reason. I would love this option as I refuse to use a touch car wash or what they claim as "touchless" (Delta does this but its not truly touchless).

Those roof mouldings are commonly found loose even without any assistance from automated car washes

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Have been hand washing my vehicles for nearly 30 years. No scratches, no damage, and no $10 bill each time I want my paint scratched.

The thought of putting a new vehicle through a automated car wash is cringeworthy.

Happens frequently, the carwash will be a dead end, just put it back in place with some silicon or RTV and secure it that way.

A touch car wash is fine. Just be sure to find a place that has high maintenance standards for their machines and don't go too often. Many touchless car washes use high pressure and harsh chemicals to compensate for it being touchless, and these can do damage in the long run if you don't bi/annual paint maintenance.

It happened a couple of times to me. When I installed a factory roof rack, the trim comes off for the install (I saved it, though), so not an issue anymore.
