    This may or may not help and people have told me it doesn't have anything to do with anything, but I figured I'd throw it out there. About a month after I moved to CO my 99 started dropping the idle and stalling at stop lights after running at speed and in neutral I had to keep it gassed before dropping back to drive. I'd just had the throttle sensor replaced along with all the hoses, etc prior to moving here due to age and wear. Someone suggested tweaking a screw somewhere which I know nothing about or trying better gas, so rather than getting into something I didn't have a mechanic to help me with, I tried the gas and for whatever reason, it fixed the problem completely. Not fun to pay for 97 but the truck seems to like it. Good luck.

    Perma, I tried putting a higher grade gas in it two tanks ago and didn’t notice a difference. I had the same thought, thanks!

    I think I’ve figured out what was going on. I vacuum tested the new(to me) fuel pressure regulator, and it was fine. I noticed the motor was surging at idle, which is typically indicative of a TPS problem. When I replaced my TPS and MAF mid diagnosis (with cheap aftermarket ones, I swear I’ll learn some day), I kept all of my old OEM ones. I pulled off the new TPS and MAF and put the OEM ones back on. I’ve only put ~20 miles on it since, but it’s like a new truck. One more testament to making sure you buy quality parts, I’ll see how it does for the rest of the day, as I’ve got another 100-150 miles to drive.

    In summary;
    FPR was the original problem, installed faulty TPS and MAF trying to fix it, fixed FPR, problem persisted until OEM TPS and MAF went back on. Don’t buy cheap parts :rofl:

    I hope for the safety and well being of my truck that this solves my problem as well. If not, bring marshmallows to the smoke you see billowing from the fire.
