Mine did this when I first got it but it's either stopped happening or I stopped noticing.... Pretty sure it's the former.

This is an issue on non TRD trucks. Springs are different.

TSB 0171-16 hasn't been re-issued for the 17's which have the same issue. They know what the issue is. We'll see Friday when I take it to another dealer. It's for sale if anyone is interested.

Toyota fixed the truck under tsb 0171-16. The VIN list was updated and allowed this truck to be fixed. Changed rear springs and added shim to change the angle.
Took 90% of the vibration away.

Thought I would chime in here with my experience.

I have a ‘16 TRD OR, lifted with 2.5 King OEM mid-travels and an AAL in the rear. I had the “rumble strip” thing going on pretty bad. You could feel it in every seat and pretty bad in brake pedal and driver floor.

I spoke with the service manager and we looked at the TSB mentioned in this post and he said they would look at it.

Took a ride with a tech at Toyota and he said it felt like warped drums to him.

They kept my truck overnight and ordered new drums to install under warranty < 36K.

I thought for sure they were treating a symptom and that the problem would persist.

They asked me who I had work on my brakes and they seemed very surprised when I told them no one had touched my brakes.

They said the drums were WAY over-tightened and that it must have been done at the factory.

So far, so good. The truck stops, braking under 30 with no vibrations.

Will it prove to be a fix and not come back? We’ll have to see, but for now it’s all good.

Have them check your rear brakes!

This was fixed under tsb 0171-16. Changed leaf springs and added wedge to change the pinion angle. The vin finally was added to the list of affected trucks. This issue was for non-TRD trucks.

Do you feel it while coasting (no gas or brake applied) too before the drums were fixed?

My 19' is a month old and does this. I was thinking of bringing it in to have it looked at.

The deceleration vibes on my truck have almost completely gone away now at 2400 miles. They were pretty noticeable the first 2000 or so miles, but now I can just barely feel them.

FWIW, adding a bed mat also helps considerably. They weigh about 30-40 lbs which is enough to dampen the vibration.

Took mine for a 10K service, briefly mentioned that I get some vibration when braking at highway speeds and next thing I know is my SA calling and telling me that they will be replacing sh!t load of parts under warranty (driveshaft, bushing, bearings, brakes). They mentioned that there is a TSB for 2019s. Anyone else had a TSB applied on 2019 MY? Will see what they did tomorrow (hopefully).

Following. Been feeling this as well -- mild vibration while braking.

Coming up on the 10k service and just starting to make a list of what to ask them about. Searched, but haven't been able to find a list anywhere on TW of what to ask about at each service. Any leads?

Tires. After I replaced them at 3k miles, the vibrations went away.

i just got back from an appointment at my dealer for the same issue. after 2.5 hours they come and tell me that they don't feel anything abnormal and their tech then the tech lead rode in it for 20 miles.

i went with the tech lead and drove around and i felt it, he said he really didn't but what he did feel is a characteristic of this truck. He said he has worked on tacos with the brake out of round issue and i don't have that. if i did, i'd have a noise at lower speeds while braking which i don't right now, and the vibes would be way worse.

while we were driving it, it wasn't too bad i will admit. And i did quite a few stops. I felt it but it was mild. Once I left, after about 10 miles, and quite a few more stops, it was way worse. So bad that the fat in my right calf jiggled some.

At this point, not sure what to do, maybe send it and once it gets way worse and way obvious all the time, then take back. At least it's documented now. he said they could do brakes under warranty to at least 36k miles or 36 months maybe further- up to the service mgmr/dealer so I am good there in regards to the 12k miles or 12 months on brakes.

i think it's going to get way worse and then i will be getting a new axle/drums/brakes.

UNLESS it is truly a characteristic and there is some road/rear tire interference thing going on. Maybe my ass is just really sensitive...shutup, don't say anything about that.

I brought mine in for the vibration issue. I told the service writer it was coming from the rear. When I picked up the truck, they told me they replaced the front pads and turned the rotors. Sigh!. I brought it to another dealership and they had it for a couple of days. They replaced the rear axles and it solved the problem.
