Your bump steer, ride complaints, and poor gas mileage are due to the alignment, lift, and tires on your Tacoma.

If you need a half ton buy the ford. If you don't need a half ton keep the Tacoma and get an alignment. Unfortunately with a drop bracket lift there's not an easy way to undo that and with 6" of lift a smaller size tire will look funny.

Id bet if you lost the 6in lift and 35's you would be much happier with the tacoma.

That stated. god forbid my tacoma was no longer in my life.... id probably be buying a 5.0L NA'd f150.

The cost to do those things would take a while for me to gain my money back and actually see savings

I can’t find a way to Correct the bump steer. This is my current alignment. My wheels are American racing atx and tires are 35 bfg ko2’s.

I wish it was that easy. But I didn’t put the lift in and I don’t have any parts to return it to stock, or the portion of the crossmember that was cut out. I do have fox coilovers which makes it bearable. It doesn’t ride bad over bumps, but the steering is interesting for sure. My 2 Jeep Wranglers didn’t feel this way with a lift and 35’s

Ford drive nice, but How long are your plan to drive the truck? After 100k miles, Ford will turn in as money pit.

I don’t disagree with you there. I didn’t put the lift in, purchased the truck as is and would’ve needed a much longer test drive to really get a feel for it. It’s a 6” bds kit with fox coilovers.

Start sourcing stock parts. Cross member can be welded back in.

The jeeps are total different animals, steering characteristics hardly change on a lift on a solid front axle and they are typically designed with a lift and larger tires in mind.

For a minute let's assume you'll sell your current taco. How about we compare a stock taco at the same price point as the Ford? See anything you like there?

Had a 2011 F-150 Ecoboost. A bit sluggish but the ride was smooth like butter. After I traded it in, a couple years later (and to this day) received recalls in the mail for all sorts of things for it. Glad I didn't buy it out.

Idk how I’d find an ~8” section of cross member to weld back in. And yes I agree with you on the solid axle aspect but everyone knows jeeps drive funny when lifted which is why I made that statement.

All this baggin on the Ferds. I’ve had plenty as work trucks. They have all been great work trucks. No real problems with them that jump out at me. They just don’t do it for me like my Toyotas do. My current F-150 has 135k on it and no problems. Just normal maintenance. The only Ford that my family has owned that was problematic was the 93 F-150. That AOD transmission shit the bed around 160k. Replaced it and traded the truck in for a Powerstroke F-250. Great work trucks.

I have both, 2007 Tacoma, 2014 F150. Both have been perfect. The Tacoma is at 202,000, the Ford at 84,000. The only parts replaced on the Tacoma are the alternator, brakes, tires, shocks, one U-Joint, and the HVAC motor. The Ford just had the front brake pads replaced 1000 miles ago. Other than that everything that was on both of them when they left the factory is still there.

The Ford is far more comfortable, gets exactly 1 mpg worse fuel mileage with the 5.0 V8, and will pull/haul a LOT more weight.

You should be doing a lot better than 12 mpg. My Tacoma gets 16ish around town and 19-20 hwy. Subtract 1 mpg for the Ford.

I’ll hold my breath for the phone call saying you got 400k out of the Ford. 4 Toyota’s I’ve owned so far all 350k plus miles on each.
