    Nice!! Like very much!!

Congrats! Please don't take this the wrong way....but if it's worth dropping the string or hammer on a deer, then it's worth sharing a pic or two.

I got a dreaded phone call this afternoon I knew would come one day. A realtor called me and ask was I hunting weds. morning? She said the landowner gave her my number and sent her a key to the gate I put up a couple years ago to keep people from continuing to tear the fields up doing donuts. They are listing it for sale.

I’ve been blessed the past 10 years to hunt a piece of property here in N.C. The man and his wife who own the land now live in Georgia. I met him through a mutual friend so I could do some welding for him. He and his wife are great people. He lets me and my wife hunt it and I keep it up in exchange. I bushhog it every year and whatever else it needs to keep it from growing up. It’s 44 acres, 5 minutes from my house. My wife and I have taken some nice deer over the years there.

He had it for sale once before for about a year and had people look but obviously it didn’t sell. He may have lowered the price this time, I don’t know. I know we can’t afford to buy it. Whatever happens will happen, there’s nothing I can do about it.

Exactly! I also know where all the holes are that break tractor spindles and the area to stay away from running small stumps through a rear tractor tire :D

I just text the landowner and ask him what he was going to ask for his place, I have a friend who may be interested in buying it. He messaged me back and said he's looking at splitting it into four 10 acre tracts. He didn't give me a price. Standing by...................

I ask the real estate lady yesterday if something was fixing to happen, I have 4 pieces of farm equipment there I need to get. I wanted to make sure she knew they are mine and doesn't take pictures of them tomorrow. Guess I'll be hauling equipment on my Christmas vacation.

Hopefully he doesn't split it. Not trying to be negative but...that could mean 4 houses on it.

I honestly think if he splits it it'll be a tough sale for all of it. The way it lays there's only about 100' of road frontage with one entrance and it gets wider as it goes back. I wouldn't want to buy the back 10 and have to drive by 3 other houses to get to mine. Plus the land is really hilly, rocky, and the timber was cut off of it before he bought it and he had the stumps ground off right below the soil. I've been fighting small trees coming up on it since I started tending it. I've also had 4 flat tractor tires there, 3 of them on the rear. Had to buy a new set of tires last year cause the one that went through that time was bigger than my thumb. It's been a fun ride, hope we can get another deer season or 2 out of it before losing it.

It doesn't sound like a place people would buy as a homesite, so that's good to know. Keep us posted on this, I'm curious to hear what happens. Hope you can continue to hunt there for manys years to come.

With that type of access it may be hard to sub-divide. There is a "development" of lots near where I hunt. The lots vary in size form 4-25 acres. There are a number of lots that are "landlocked" so to speak with a shared right of way between several properties. Those lots are still for sale after almost 10 years.

Hope it works out and you can continue to hunt there.

So the farmer is finally cutting the 16 acres of corn in front of where I hunt . NY all deer hunting ended yesterday. Go figure the corn gets cut now :annoyed:I drove down just before he started because I saw the combine go by my house . Told him about the deer I lost in October and this corn field is the only place I didn’t really search every inch of . It would be a long shot but maybe just maybe if the deer died in the corn I would be able to recover the antlers . So he says “ get in” . How cool was that . They managed to cut 1/3 of the field and are coming back in the morning to finish . No sign of deer remains yet :fingerscrossed:obviously the date on my camera is wrong
