I had this problem with an iphone X and my 2018, but have since not noticed it on my 2019 using a iphone XR. I'm not sure what's different? I'm on ios13 as well.

For me, when I was having the problem in the '18, it would happen when I held the phone button on the steering wheel to activate siri. Seemed like every 2-3 times I did that the whole system would reboot. I called toyota support at the time, and it was a nightmare dealing with them. After not accepting their answer that "the iphone x hasn't been tested yet" for several calls, they finally agreed to get the dealer to replace the head unit. Sadly, that didn't help anything and it continued to be a problem until I traded in the truck, so never really got an actual solution.

Fingers crossed, but so far no issues with the '19. Maybe there was a software update in the head unit at some point? Or maybe it will start glitching out on me tonight. Good luck, I remember that shit being frustrating as hell....

For me, it would happen once my iphone connects to the H/U. I'm not even pressing any buttons.

I have a weird problem with streaming Bluetooth audio. Sometimes the picture of the song doesn’t load, but the music will play. Once this occurs, every time I click volume up down or track back/forward, instead of doing any of those commands, it turns the volume down to zero. It is super annoying, but wanted to add a similar gripe about entune.

Yeap! I have an iPhone X and i started having that problem just yesterday, i haven’t updated my iphone or anything. Ive had the truck for a year now and this is the first time this happens. Took it to the Toyota and they updated the radio and it still happening. They just told me theres nothing they can do, that its just an iPhone problem.

That seems to be the consensus among iPhone users. Outside looking in, it doesn't seem as specific to the iPhone model as it does that latest software update. Not my experience, just what I've gathered from all the posts on this topic.

I have a 2019 Taco I bought new in May of this year and an iPhone X I bought new in November 2017. Everything worked perfectly until about 4 weeks ago. As y'all stated, when Bluetooth connects I get a few seconds of connectivity and then the radio crashes and reboots over and over and over and.... I tried forgetting the connections, reset the radio to factory settings, reset the phone to defaults, and then reinitiated the Bluetooth connection. Worked for a full 30 seconds and then crashed the radio. It doesn't seem to be the ios, though, because my son's iPhone 6S running the same ios works fine, plus the problem didn't start immediately after an update. I'd hoped the most recent update (two weeks ago?) would resolve it, but nope.

My work-around is to disable BT on my phone and connect to the radio via USB to play my music. Sucks that all the phone features don't work but at least the radio isn't crashing literally every few seconds.

I was able to stop the reboots by disabling contact sync in the bluetooth settings while keeping all other bluetooth and iphone capabilities.

    I hope it helps!

So I couldn't find anything in the truck's radio menus that specifically said "contact sync" or even close to that. However, I forced address updates to the truck from my phone and removed the speed dial contacts from my home screen and now everything (else) works. Thanks for the advice...much better than it was!

Glad to help! There are a couple of check boxes in the phones bluetooth settings under CarAccessorySystem device. Just uncheck both of them and you are good to go.

This just started happening to me a few weeks ago. Got my head unit updated but that didn’t help at all.

Temp fix is to go into the bluetooth settings on the iphone, and turn off notifications/contact sync. Still works for music like normal, but i’ve had some friends complain about BT call quality for some reason?

I'm having almost the same issue. Once I turn on the truck the HU will constantly reboot UNTIL I go to audio -> select device settings and reselect my iPhone. If I don't manually go and select it then it will reboot for eternity.

You probably need a software update on the radio

Found this on the Tundra forum from a user named WYN PAT, followed it to the letter, totally fixed my issue.
Seemed excessive, but it worked, took less than 10 minutes.

    Mostly his spiel:

Went to the Apple Store Genius Bar and told the guy what was happening. He came out to my truck and fixed it in less than 5 minutes.
    You must be running 13.1.3.
First: forget the Truck from the iPhone Bluetooth settings.
You must also remove the iPhone from the truck radio so there are no phones paired [click the circled "i" and forget it]
Turn the Bluetooth off on the iPhone until the last step.

Here’s what he did to the phone:

    1. Uninstall Apple Music app from the iPhone

    2. Reset network settings [go to settings - general - then you’ll have the option to reset network settings. Don’t reset anything else... just the network settings]
    3. Sign out of your iTunes account
    4. Restart the phone [power it OFF, then ON]
    5. Sign in to your iTunes account again
    6. Reinstall the music app
    7. Open the music app, select some songs, then select shuffle and let it begin playing the music on the phone first to be sure it’s working properly.
    8. Pair the phone with the truck again (turn Bluetooth on, go to audio screen settings and select add)
I did this yesterday and drove the truck last night and all day today without any issues.

This glitch occurs on my friends iphone xs max but not my iphone XS

i was told when i was having other issues in November that Toyota would be releasing a stereo update in December.
My truck’s probably incapacitated for a month or so (car crash) but i’ll update if it fixes it

My 2017 was rebooting several times a day when trying to make a call. It was so annoying I basically quit using the damn thing. I honestly can not figure out how Toyota is okay putting Entune in their vehicles! Anyway, I did the update provided through the Toyota website and have had zero reboots since doing so. It has worked perfect for over a month now.
I have a iPhone X. Sorry I do not have the link but a quick google search should do the trick. It was actually pretty simple and quick.
    Hope this helps!

At least it reboots. Mine randomly disconnects and the only way to reconnect is to turn the truck off and back on again.
