    Cooper at3 P rated in 265/70/ 17 (not quite the same as I mentioned before)= 49lbs
    Bridgestone Dueler revo2 265/75/16 =47lbs

So, according to the published weight for each tire (which may not be correct?) my old tires were actually heavier even though p rated. That surprises me. Thought I had looked it up before and seen something different.

Well, mpg has gotten worse since I got the truck, but I bought it in June so temps, winter gas, etc. It hasn't changed much either- I think the best tank I ever got highway, city, summer, winter, pre-maintanence, post, whatever, was 280mpg from full to gas light. I always have about 3gal left in tank when light comes on.

Everything else I listed has been done as preventative maintenance since then. Have checked tire pressures all around too- currently running 32-33psi all around.

If all else fails, check the nut connecting the steering wheel to the gas pedal.

Haha, could be. But I feel like I drive pretty slowly. I get passed by multiple mini vans on a daily basis.

I had seriously considered for the first 2 months I owned the truck that I was incapable of doing the simple math that led me to conclude I was getting 12mpg. I have since checked and rechecked my math and it turns out getting 220miles in a tank is always about 12mpg.

City driving with lots of stop and go, just kills the mileage! Add that to the winter blend gasoline. Constant engine warm up cycles. Winter/All Terrain Tires. What kind of geography that you have to drive in. Plus any added weight to the vehicle, and your mileage is gonna take a serious dive.
The trucks aren't known for their efficiency at the best of times, just their longevity. Add the all the above situations together and it just gets worse.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I guess I thought I would be closer to the 4runner mpg when I got it. Oh well- still enjoy the truck and get more utility out of it. Only real inconvenience will be stopping every 300ish miles for gas on long trips instead of every 400ish miles like in the 4runner.

In a couple years I'll switch out the tires, may do the 3 degree exhaust cams in the meantime, and maybe add an ultragauge to monitor my driving habits and efficiency.

4 inch lift - complete blackout, n-fab step bars, Black Horse bull bar, 20 inch light bar, anytime fog lights, added led day running lights, Fuel wheels and Falken Wildpeak tires ,custom fit seat covers, Gatorback mud gaurds
I also get 12-14 mpg. I have a 4 inch lift, 33 inch tires and a heavy foot. I just fill up more often...problem solved!!

Stock truck with just Falken Wildpeaks here, I calculate 17 to 18 mpg. I do about 120 miles of highway, rest is city driving. It sucks but I don't mind too much since I love my truck.
Just had a 4x4 ram v8 rental for a week that I got 20 mpg in which surprised me a bit lol.

I'm going to be honest with you. My 2012 brand new has never gotten over 232 miles per tank from full to the e light initially on. That same statement holds true today.

These trucks just suck for fuel economy.

I personally don't mind the sucky mpg. It's just a minor inconvenience having to fill up so often, especially for someone that drives as much as me.

@Marshall R did you correct your speedometer with a calibrator? I can tell this is a wee bit convoluted already. Change in unsprung weight and rolling diameter....

That is another issue- I have made no correction to speedo. So, I assume that would work to my benefit? Less rotation of the tires because of larger wheels= truck has actually traveled greater distance than odo says?

Pretty much. And I assume all Toyotas are off a few mph. My FJ would read 5mph too fast on OE size 265/75 tires. On 285/75 , it would be just right.

If you have the time. Fill up your Tacoma and go for a long highway drive. Keep the speed around 65 - 68MPH. The less hills the better. Then gas up and see what you mileage works out to by hand. It's not going to be stellar. But at least you'll be able to see how it compares to your city mileage.

My mainly stock 05 with Falken Wildpeaks and ARE shell averages about 18-19 mpg. Long highway runs it can get 20, even 21 mpg, but not on a daily basis. Stop and go driving kills the mileage. City driving and poking around offroad gets about 16 mpg. Winter gas drops 1-2 mpg. I do my best to keep it under 2K RPM and try to drive smoothly with minimal braking.
There is always a price paid for performance, the modifications to the truck are probably the chief culprit for reduced mileage. Unfortunately, there are no current modifications that improve performance and gas mileage. Drive like there is a raw egg between your foot and the gas pedal.

My 2014 with 6mt gets 16-17 mpg on 2657516e Ko2s and lifted 2 inches. And that’s with a 50 mile commute to work each way, all mountain back roads. I only lost 1 mpg when I went to the k02s. I also run premium gas only. It seems like I get worse mpg anytime Ive ran regular.

I would think between the city driving and the leer topper could be what’s killing your fuel economy.
