At one of my gigs where I stayed for a while: the day before every holiday a system wide announcement would be sent out releasing the govies three hours early. It would pop up and take up the entire screen. They couldn't have a federal employee distro list and disseminate that way. Nope. I would get so freaking angry.

    But now? Not so much.

Gotta join the private sector. I'm off 12/19 thru 1/5 and only have to use 2 vacation days.

    YEAH. YouTube all day! Muahaha!

Maybe one day but it’ll be hard to get away from gov work, especially with my wife always being at a military base. I don’t mind it though

Being a Fed is well worth it. I did eight years a while ago and just came back. I didn't lose my time. I'm on the cheaper retirement plan, and my military time will count when I buy it back. I also got back the sick leave I had accrued. And the government leave accrual is pretty awesome; especially if you go in as former military.

Best of all, I don't have to worry about my job suddenly disappearing. I've been through that garbage too many times.

I’ve tossed the idea around but I was never in the military so I know it’s harder to get in. Someone explained the temporary position to me which sounds interesting. Just not sure if I want to stay in government work haha

    Hopefully baby gets here soon!

It's possible... I am not prior service and will be starting with the FBI next year. I am actually coming home next month to do my poly and piss test. Only downfall, as mentioned earlier, is I won't have any years of prior credible service so my first 3 years of leave accrual will be low. Oh well...

I will check if Blakey Ridge complex is open. There are gates at two places. I met VDOT truck last time so I guess they control them.

nice! Yeah I’m not concerned with the challenge of joining, more of if I want to. I kind of want to get out of government for a little to see what it’s like

Blakey Ridge looks like fun. Nice little rip on fire roads. And it's not as far away as some of the other trails we run. If we end up here, I'm game. The wife wants me home early evening, so if we go around our regular locales I won't be able to do it.
