I don't care for the stock look at all but with a lift, tires and wheels...not bad at all. Many thought the 3rd Gen
was ugly as fuk too when the pics first started rolling out to the public.

lol, I've grown to like the look but I was like many at first after trading my 2nd Gen on this one. And some pics at certain
angles still have that pig look.

As compared to the 2nd Gen's much more appealing dead carp appearance

I feel like if a blind person described a truck it would be the ranger. Just so meh looking, not even interesting enough to be ugly.

The bed and hood look scaled up 125% while the cab is scaled down 75%. It's very off to me somehow.

Perspective distortion? Orrrr it's just ugly. I'm leaning towards the latter. I read all the reviews on the Rangers and it looks good on paper, until you see a picture of it. I had a 94 Ranger when they transitioned from the square bodies to the round bodies. It was a champ. I got really lucky when it survived a timing chain snap and didn't damage the valvetrain. It hit 220k miles before someone else driving my truck got t-boned. Thing was built like a tank for such a small truck. I think of that truck and compare it to the new ranger and it makes me sigh. Oh well. Maybe Ford will be good one day. Probably not.

I actually think you hit it exactly why most of us are hating this "new" ranger. Most of us had one and we all compare it to what we had. Is it technically better than my '89 with the 2.3 and 5 speed? Absolutely. My squared off Ranger was tough and reliable, albeit slow. Very slow lol.

Which one would I rather have though?

What's the difference between a carp and 2nd Gen Tacoma owner?

One's a smelly, slimy, bottom feeding scavenger that eats the feces of all the other animals and the other one is a fish.

3" lift in front and 2" in rear. G-FX TR-16 wheels
It’s like they kind of tried to mimic the Tacoma but completely pussed out on the front end 18EC8C90-C073-4ABA-AA7D-9B4ACD5DD2C9.jpg

    Right?

    The Hilux also.

People here prattle on about how this truck or that trucks "looks".

Apparently the rest of the pickup truck buying world cares less about looks than capabilities?

The Tacoma is a fine looking machine imo, but if you did an exact switch of Tacoma outward appearance with Ranger, Colorado, etc, I would still rather have the Toyota.

    Apologies in advance...

Both are ugly. I'd say the Honda wins the ugly truck contest though.
