Ok guys, I need something new that won't break the bank. Maybe you guys can assist me. I'm looking for a Whiskey $70 or under. Here are some of my current favorites.

    Kentucky Owl Rye
    Lagavulin 16 Year
    Johnnie Walker Black Label

I generally like the darker, smokier ones. I like Ardbeg but it seems to come off a little weak on the body side.

Can anyone recommend something to me? :D

Thank you, the description seems a little on the light side to me.

If you like Ardbeg 10 but find it lacking body, try the Corryvreckan. It definitely solves the lack of intensity of the 10. It's above your $70 point (81.99 at my local Total Wine) but it's by far my favorite peated single malt.

I just received some Four roses bourbon. It's nice and smooth.

Had that at a local eatery, was thrown off by the name on the menu but they recommended it to me. Very smooth and cheap too!

Light how? Are you looking for a higher level of peat? Higher ABV? Specific flavor profile? It has long legs and a medium to long finish. I'm a huge fan of Compass Box stuff, though, so I gravitate there for scotch recommendations pretty often.

Maybe Talisker Distillers Edition for $75 or Talisker Storm for $55.

The Corryvreckan is a good recommendation, as well, if you don't mind going a bit above the $70 mark.

I'm relatively new to the field so I can't give you a decisive answer. But all of these recommendations are definitely being taken into consideration. I'm sorry I cannot provide any real descriptions. I like the Black Label because its dark, tastes heavy, has a quick bight and goes down smooth. Lagavulin is very peaty and is very *alcoholy*, and then kentucky owl will just straight up punch you in the nuts.

Gotcha. I was just wondering if there is something in the notes that you generally look for or try to avoid.

As for descriptions, just start making stuff up. That's how all of us do it anyways ;).

Good luck with the hunt and let us know what you end up with!

Haha! My "tasting notes" pretty much consist of: "Like it" and "don't like it (but did the job nonetheless)."

Country Ham is very good. I haven't opened Chapter 3, yet.

As for prices, about $5-10 higher than most places I've seen. The Chapter 3 was $90 at Specs, but $110 at WB, for whatever that is worth.

Thanks.. I invested my whiskey money in something far more valuable (to me) this time... But the place I went to today was my first visit there and the first time I've seen those or many other things in person... I will be going back again soon!

Been looking for this one for awhile for the collection. Some intel from a great friend led me to this and the new to me store!

I was going through Prime Video and saw this program. Has anyone seen it? I don't have time to watch the whole thing now but I'll watch a bit. Directors last name is appropriate!
