The Tacoma headlights for our trucks down right suck!

Projector headlights are your ultimate upgrade for the best performance.
These have fantastic light power and a beautiful cutoff line.
The Morimoto Bi-Xenon mini H1 7.0 kit (the best quality) with all the parts will cost around 220.00 black Friday deal.
The glass and metal buckets will cost 75.00-100.

I looked and looked and couldn’t find a thread that had the glass and metal buckets for
    an install.

So here is some info on the setup I found and what I did to use the metal and glass option.

You can find a plastic housing and will be a lot easier but not the quality.

Plastic buckets, cheap plastic lens are very thin, tend to yellow, fog and can crack.

Glass can break or crack tho,
Metal buckets will not melt or warp from heat and will dissipate heat better.

I used the Nokya H6054 which I believe is the same as the Rampage H6054.
These are glass lens with optical quality and a very thick aluminum metal housing.

Two glass with thick aluminum buckets, either Nokya/Rampage H6054 will work.

So I got all my parts and tools needed.

If you have an air compressor with a grinder attachment this will go a lot faster
    Parts needed

    1-Dremel

2-Dremel grinding wheel, NOT cutting wheel.

3-Four 2.5” THICK 1/16 steel washers that will need to be ground out in the centers

4-Two shower flange covers, these are very thick and need the back metal supports ground off.

    5-Two rubber tub seals

6-Two glass with thick aluminum buckets, either Nokya/Rampage H6054 will work.

    7-
    [IMG]
$3 Allstar Performance ALL76282 Gray 16-14 Gauge Weather Pack Seal, (Set of 10)
    weather pack seal
    (grommet for solenoid wires)

    8- lens butyl

    9- https://www.theretrofitsource.com/bixenon-morimoto-mini-h1-stage-3.html

These were on sale for 220.00 with the update bulb holder with shipping for Black Friday.
There are group buys on these for that price of 220.00 if you wait.

You will be able to install these projectors without the projector hitting the glass lens, but it will be tight and lot of grinding but very doable for a perfect fit.

In order for this to happen you will need 2 thick steel 2.5” washers with the rubber gasket that be needed because the bucket back flange section needs to be a bit deeper to hold the projector tight and get the added depth for the glass lens to not hit the projector.

The 1st 2.5 washer needs to be trimmed extra wide inside to allow the back of the projector to come through and sits in the washer.

If you get thin washers you will have to stack more washers to get the added depth.
This is trial and error process.

You probably could use layers of thick plexiglass and would be a lot easier to get that added depth too.

The advantage to NOT cutting the bucket housing in two sections as some people do this is the structural alignment of the metal bucket with metal washers will not change the alignment of
of the bulb when installed and with metal washers keeping everything true in alignment too.

A-The round back flange INSIDE bulb area of the housing has to be all trimmed out round.

B-The inside of the lens where the projector hits the bucket will need to be ground down for that extra 1/16 “ for the glass lens to clear. The projector is not perfectly round,
So the EAST and WEST sides need to be ground in particular.

The bucket metal is very thick and needs a lot of grinding.

C-1 The back of the shower flange needs the mounded brackets ground off.
-2 The washers need to be ground down in the center.
-3 drill a hole for the high beam wires.

Go slow and try the different options (dry runs) as how much needs to be ground from the washers to the lens lip where the projector hits.

This will end up being a super high quality setup now.

D-If you get a bread pan glass and set the lights in upside down and put acetone inside the lens and in the pan, the lens will fall out from sitting overnight or maybe a little push from the inside. Don’t let it fall and break tho.

I was given a quote of 700.00 with shipping for a plastic setup and a 3 month wait.

If you shop for the parts this setup will cost you 300.00 with much higher quality buckets and a few hours of your time with the parts in hand.
Then you need to install the wiring harness and buckets and then align each light.

Came out pretty well for a metal bucket, more work but well worth it and wouldn't have to deal with any heat issues

These are definitely the BOMB headlights and worth the 220.00 plus 75.00 for glass and metal buckets =300.00
Didn't know what I was missing.

Takes a bit getting used too, the High beam is SOO bright and shoots really high.

Im having a little trouble getting the lens socket lined up horizontally as there is no adjustment in the headlight bucket.
Have to keep rotating the bulb socket trial and error is all one can do to get the horizontal beam correct.

Decided to take the headlights apart and paint the chrome reflectors flat black and the headlight chrome trim black too.

I think it looks much better and there will be less reflection with the chrome painted black
