My 2000 Tacoma still had the original battery when I traded it in 2008, and my 2008 Tacoma still had the original battery when I traded it in 2015.

The title led me to think you had some unique model of Tacoma. A 2018 TRD Dead Battery! A zero emissions truck! A true unicorn of Tacoma's!

I am a bit disappointed.

Fluke bad battery (dead cell), parasitic draw from a stuck relay or stuck switch, or the dealer didn't maintain the battery while your truck sat on the lot. If you have a multimeter you can check the no-load voltage and check the current draw when the truck is off.

If you find excessive parasitic draw, don't bother trying to isolate the circuit. Take it in and let the dealer deal with it under warranty.

Probably just got a lemon battery.

In my 2015 WRX, I had a battery last about 6 months and it was dead (would barely even charge). Got it swapped via warranty and it lasted 4+ years without issue.

2017 TRD OR, factory battery gave up the ghost last weekend after 50k km. Went to start it the morning of the 15th and barely enough juice to turn the crank a couple times. BCAA to rescue for a jump start. Then died again in the local Canadian Tire lot as I went to get the batteries for the dual battery kit that I have been putting off installing. They didn't have the yellow tops there, and battery dead again in the lot. Once more with BCAA, another CT, which had the batteries in stock as per online stock check.
At least now I know it wasn't anything that I did.

Was dead again this morning. At the dealership now. They said whatever the case it’s under warranty.

Unless you are stranded in Timbuktu, take it to the dealer.

My OEM battery died within a year of ownership. It was replaced by the dealer at no charge.

I cut the edges off the plastic tray on the bottom and I used two j bolts to hold the battery down.
