Hello All. I am new here. I just bought a 2013 Toyota Tacoma,V6 4.0 4x4 TRD Sport Truck. It only had 43K miles on it and it was a one owner and Toyota certified. I am learning things I do and do not like about this truck.

I am finding out that Toyota skimped on several things that bug me. No lights on the door lock buttons or the window up and down buttons except for the Drivers auto button.
I also do not like the fact that the 4x4 dial is not back lit either. Small things I know but they bug me.

    Here is my real issue.
I can find anything for the newer trucks. You can absolutely get almost any kind of accessory you could imagine and shop till your hearts content for newer models. 2016-2020.
But if you have anything older than a 2016 you are basically screwed.

I am beginning to feel like the 2nd generation Toyota Trucks are the Bastard Children of Toyota Tacomas.
Kind of like the 73-74 Ford Galaxie's are the Bastards of Ford.

Anyway my main problem is that I have an intermittent issue with the turn signal on the passengers side mirror. I have a feeling that the bulb in it is about to go. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I am assuming that this is a full unit replacement and not a bulb that can be replaced.

So with this being said I have seen all kinds of upgrades for the newer trucks but what about the 2nd Gen. I would love to change out the Mirror Turn Signals for some of those kewl smoky ones but I have yet to find any and I am also finding it very difficult to find replacement regular ones. If you know where to find any good upgrades please let me know. Thanks

So basically you're saying you did inadequate research on and testing of the vehicle you chose.

And there are piles of stuff for 2nd gens. Well, functional stuff anyway. Its the 1st gen folks who are starting to see a dry up in the aftermarket.

Hopefully the site will help you find all the things you need.

I did my due diligence when I bought my truck. Maybe I was tad bit judgemental about my feelings towards it. I do love my new truck. It is in fantastic shape and basically looks brand new inside and out. But as with any vehicle it is impossible to test every single button and function when you test drive a vehicle. And with even brand new cars there are things that happen. Case and point I bought a brand new car and within a week the sunroof relay had to be replaced. So things happen. With this truck being six years old there are also small things that need attention. Case and point the mirror side marker turn signals. I have looked everywhere to find an upgrade and as of yet have not found anything to replace the stock ones with. My rant on the other things were just issues that bugged me. And if you say that you can find tons of stuff for my generation truck then point the way to all the websites because I have not found much of anything in regards to up grades. And I am not talking mechanical. I mean more aesthetic things. Thanks.

Welcome to TW! Not sure where you are looking because there are literally TONS of aftermarket parts available for the 2nd Gen Tacomas ... and even if there aren't for something specific there's probably a DIY thread here on Tacomaworld to address it.

I'm not going to point you to all the websites.

But if you'll make a short list of priority items of interest, I'm sure a few of us will give you some resources.

I'm assuming you've already looked through the forum vendor listing? https://www.tacomaworld.com/categories/vendors.62/

Looked though the 2nd gen build threads for ideas and folks you can PM about things you see you like?

When I think asthetics, I think of floor mats, window visors, hidden pistol cases, tint, decals, wheels, tonneau covers, audio, lighting upgrades (which are excellent for 2nd gens), under rail bed lighting, bed mats, upgraded backup lights, dash cams, etc etc. All that stuff is easy to find.

So again, a short list would help.

You might look at this and contact to see if they could help resolve your mirror issue. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/heated-mirrors-kit-interest-update-thread-pic-heavy.377840/

WOW never even knew that they had a heated mirror kit. That was kewl. Thanks CW Bill. Right now the only thing that I was looking at replacing was the mirror turn signals that are the back and sides of the mirrors. I am slowing learning this site and slowly finding other things that will fit my truck. I like to keep things as stock as possible but a few upgrades such as the heated mirrors or heated seats would be nice. I have found the heated seat kits. But all in good time. For now just the Mirror turn signals upgrade is what I am after. Thanks.

What I'm suggesting is you contact that person for assistance, or pointing you in the right direction for assistance, to resolve your current issue.

Anyone who has gone to that effort to develop the package he has has a good understanding of how the OE mirror system works, and may be able to help you solve your concern.
