Sorry about that! They flush with Armor Global flush. I have no idea what that means.

I see they offer coolant but I didn't see their flush. No big deal, I was just curious.

Yeah I went in two weeks ago and they told me to hold off because they have a new machine coming in. They called me up with a first in apt so I went. The Tech talked me through it and was really excited about it.....had pressure measuring lines at all points, pulled everything quickly and filled everything quickly. Truck seems happy.

What does running it for a minute do?

I've run a ton of engines for longer than a minute with no water/coolant whatsoever in them (jet boats, I don't suggest anyone do it as it'll eventually damage the jet drive) and I don't think in a minute the water would do anything at all. Does the water even get warm within a minute?

Yep. It's diluted so quickly it doesn't make a difference.

I have a tundra and tacoma, and its my opinion to only use stock coolant bought at a dealer. Always hear its bad to use any other coolant and that it could cause corrosion. It is very expensive, but done so infrequently, seems well worth if for peace of mind. I've also only gotten the premixed type so i never have to add anything to it.

running for a minute mixes the stuff in it around, worked fine for me for past 35 years

I did not say run with out coolant. Go read the steps again.

Mixes what around? It's all water at that point. Mixing water up is still just water. ???

I didn't write that you wrote to run the engine without any liquid in the cooling system, I wrote that 1 minute isn't enough to do anything to anything.

Never mind, you continue to do what's worked for you for 35 years even though you're not doing anything with your extra steps other than wasting your time and your water.

Some of you guys way overthink this stuff and put way too much credit to what the marketing department tells you is true.

For me, I need proof and not side stepping or fancy talk by the sales department.

Nah not necessary to use only stock coolant.

    you included

one minute at 50 GPM does a lot of mixing around in your engine

If you saw the gunk that came out after, maybe you would flush it out twice too

For What it's worth to those that trust dealerships and or shops to actually FLUSH your fluid.. .

You are living on the edge of reality. some will, some wont and will just drain fluid from a hose or two, drain your reservoir and put new in to make you think it's flushed.

Why? Plastic parts and seals. They don't want to break your plastic shit that hasn't been replaced in 15 years and tell you they had to order a part and your car isn't ready. They don't want you knowing they took 1/4th the time to do the job. They don't want you coming back because it leaked down the road. They don't want you coming back for something they wont be able to chalk up some parts cost to.

if you setup an apt, ask if they use a flushing machine. If they don't, before you go in, use a paint marker on your radiator drain plug and all engine block drain plugs and report back. They likely wont touch the block unless it's stupid easy to get to the block drain compared to the radiator drain plug.

If they used a flushing tool, ask them how they hooked it up. If they say anything other that hooking it up to the upper radiator hose, just smile and realize you didn't get a proper flush and they only did a 1/2 ass drain and fill. go home and drain and fill again and you should be fine. take the used coolant thats dirty and ask for your money back.

yeah.. . I've been taken a couple times. On my M3, right after I purchased it, it started leaking a little under the water pump. I had to have a shop replace it for me as I noticed it leaking at work and dropped it off right away. They didn't touch any of the drain plugs. only hoses, thermostat housing and water pump housing. Why? because of above. The fluid mixed actually cause my NEW water pump to rust and my shit did not seal up. This is when I noticed they didn't do their job correctly. I made them give me brand new pump and thermostat. I specifically told them I wanted a full flush along with new BMW parts to be used AND that if ANYTHING looked like it needed replaced or needed added attention, to simply let me know because I just got the car. They failed. fucking twats. They told me why they did what they did as well. just unacceptable.

Hahahaha! Idk I didn't take the keyboard mechanics class hell I didn't even know a class like that existed, apparently you did. Enjoy mixing water in your lukewarm aluminum container to clean the container. I apologize to you for offending you. Merry Christmas.

Water is a solvent. It alone can break up some gunk that draining alone won't do.

    Happy holidays.

Why even take the risk using tap water? It won't all drain out, use distilled water to flush, it's damn cheap! Plus you'll have some containers to put that crap in to take to the counties hazardous waste dept.
