Facebook Leak Exposes 267 Million Users’ Names, Phone Numbers on Dark Web

A massive data leak from Facebook has exposed the names, personal IDs, and phone numbers of 267 million users — most of them American — on the dark web, according to reports.

The data dump was discovered by a cybersecurity firm, Comparitech, together with security researcher Bob Diachenko. The team found that 267,140,436 Facebook users had their personal information exposed.

The data was found on an unsecured database on the “dark web,” the part of the internet that is inaccessible via regular browsers and is not indexed by search engines. According to the report, the data was publicly available for two weeks.


The IDs, phone numbers and full names of 267 million users, most of which reside in the US, were discovered on an unsecured database on the dark web.

Although it is not yet clear how the sensitive information was exposed, experts speculate the database was compiled through an illegal process called ‘scraping’ – where automated bots copy public information from Facebook profiles.

Access to the database has since been removed, however, the records were available to anyone online for two weeks before the leak was discovered.

The security breach follows a massive leak in September in which more than 400 million user phone numbers were exposed.


In a statement to the Daily Mail, a Facebook representative tried to reassure the public that the leak occurred before new security measures had been put in place.

“We are looking into this issue, but believe this is likely information obtained before changes we made in the past few years to better protect people’s information,” said the Facebook rep.

A transgender woman from Oregon is suing United States of America Pageants, alleging the corporation’s rule restricting competition to “natural born'' females is a form of gender-identity discrimination.

Anita Noelle Green of Clackamas holds the title of 2019 Miss Earth Elite Oregon and competed in the 2018 Miss Montana contest.

She applied to participate in the Miss United States of America pageant last year but her application was rejected.

“This policy, intentionally designed to exclude the specific class to which plaintiff belongs – transgender females – is discriminatory because it denied plaintiff the full and equal advantages and privileges of defendant's services in violation of Oregon's public accommodations law,’’ the lawsuit says.

 

I wonder how much money Zuckerberg, or whatever her name is, can make off selling that kind of intel on 250M+ people. I’d imagine many, MANY millions.

I'm looking at this from a business standpoint, and I'm not 100% sure that they made the right decision.

Nobody cares about miss USA anymore, and I'm wagering that their revenue stream reflects that. If I were a stakeholder, I'd probably let this suit generate a lot of news, let it marinate for a month or so, then make a huge announcement how the board had a change of heart and they are now accepting applications for natural, trans, andronygous, and apache helicopters.

Boom, they get back on prime time tv again.

 

That 's a discriminatory allegation right there.

Motorcyclist Who Identifies As Bicyclist Sets Cycling World Record

In a local qualifying race for the World Road Cycling League, the motorcyclist crushed the previous 100-mile record of 3 hours, 13 minutes with his amazing new score of well under an hour.

Professional motorcycle racer Judd E. Banner, the brave trans-vehicle rider, was allowed to race after he told league organizers he's always felt like a bicyclist in a motorcyclist's body.

"Look, my ride has handlebars, two wheels, and a seat," he told reporters as he accepted a trophy for his incredible time trial. "Just because I've got a little extra hardware, such as an 1170-cc flat-twin engine with 110 horsepower, doesn't mean I have any kind of inherent advantage here."

Banner also said he painted the word "HUFFY" on the side of his bike, ensuring he has no advantage over the bikes that came out of the factory as bicycles.

Some critics say he needs to cut off his motor in order to make the competition fairer, but he quickly called these people bigots, and they were immediately banned from professional cycle racing
