I'll probably just reinforce all those nasty stereotypes about those bat-shit crazy depraved Great White North types, but....

I've been trapping raccoons since I was a kid....and putting the hind quarters on the smoker....

Yeah, the buggers have got scent glands, seemingly random placed along all four legs and the spine...trick is to find 'em without cutting into them. But they look like white peas, and feel the same, a little care and you can do it.

The fat holds a lot of musk as well, so you cut out as much of that as you can. And if you get one in an urban area, check the stomach....if he or she has been into garbage or carrion, that will likely transfer to the meat too, so I give those ones a pass

Like dressing any critter, once you've done it a couple times it is easy...they're easier (cuz they're bigger) than bloody squirrels.

My wildgame innov. camera that was taking a picture every minute, fixed itself for now. I left it in my truck toolbox for a ~month and put it on a friends field next to a development a couple days ago trying to catch a guy riding his side by side in the hay field, stopped and pulled the card on the way to work this morning expecting thousands of pictures and there was only 6, they were actually deer. I got a camera back.....for now :D

Congrats!! Two of my best hunting days were when my son shot his first buck in 2012. Was sitting with him when he made the 80 yard shot. The next one was when he killed his first archery deer in 2016. We watched her for about 20 minutes before she got broadside.

Again, congrats!! Their smiles says it all!! Way to go proud papa!

My first deer. I was 16. Made a good shot, but not much of a blood trail. By the time we got a dog and found him (maybe 2 hours), the coyotes had started on him.

My cousin is 18, he’s a great kid, never heard him cuss or say anything he shouldn’t. He text me this today and I was in shock.

When I killed my first one I was 15, cameras had the flash stick that stuck straight up and you had ten flashes on it so I don’t have a picture.

I remember it like it was yesterday though. I was in my dads loc-on and he was 6-700 yards away in another stand. I shot a 4 pt with buckshot and he just sorta laid down in slow motion and died. I hung the gun by the strap from the platform of the tree stand and ran to my dad super excited and he says “where’s your gun” to which I replied “I left it in the tree”.

We went to the deer and he handed me his knife and said “you won’t learn to gut one unless you do it yourself” and that was all she wrote, I was hooked for life.

I think we took a whole roll of film for my first one. Remember rolls of film? Drop them off at Walmart and then wait.

I've not seen this before. I have a buddy that is starting to do some taxidermy (he did not do this one) and I thought it was pretty cool. It's a pack frame mount.
