Its just when do “they” outlaw or tax to death petroleum. The EU is heading to outlawing internal combustion engines by 2040.

Probably not in our lifetime, but I bet ICE will be the minority on the road. Maybe in another hundred years they won't even make ICE passenger cars any more. There are a lot of advantages to EV's though, and they are advancing extremely fast. I wait another 10 years until they get way better range and solar panel tech becomes more efficient, but ICE seems to be at the end of it's practical development.

Honda ditched their tried and true V6 just to be politically correct. Toyota is looking like they won't be putting a V8 in the next Tundra. Tacoma going hybrid. This generation sucks, take me back to the 60's or something.

I would welcome the hybrid Tacoma but would probably wait for two years after the refresh to consider getting one, if it was within the realm of financial possibility. Toyota knows hybrids.

You think a Prius is "a lot of fun to drive"?? I drove a 2015 prius for 2 years company car. I hated it. The tires are skinnier than my third leg. The brakes suck, suspension sucks. It can't corner for sh**, and was slow. It was not well planted at all. You gotta try some other cars if you think a Prius is the tits.

lol fair enough... fun to drive may have been an exaggeration, but definitely more fun (peppier) than I thought it was going to be... great car for road trips IMO.

The next Tacoma better be carbureted and run a points ignition. Can't have any of that advanced technology crap. :duh:

    Build thread coming soon.
If they go hybrid only I hate to say it but I'll got to a Jeep Gladiator. I spend too much time off road to depend on something like that.

I hope there will be a "V8 rumble" option. Speakers that emit noise. At least I can feel like a man when I stomp the pedal in my snowflake white electric truck.

I'm not opposed to hybrid, but then at that point why not completely electric?
Disclaimer, I have a manual... but I know the end is near...

This is the problem when the proletariat are allowed to play coachman. Now they will all go to the carriage makers and tell them they want a horseless carriage, and they will surely cave to political correctness and provide what the leeches want.

The next Tacoma better be horse drawn or you are all cutting up your man cards.

Hearing stuff like this makes me glad I bought my little bullet proof ‘17 2.7 5spd that won’t ever be seen again (produced).

Not saying it’s better than what anyone else has, but my god is it so simple and will last forever.

I hated my prius-v. Actually despised getting in to it in the morning, hated the motor cutting out, hated the off the line all electric acceleration. I had a Honda insight for a while and thought it was much better though still lacking in power (as it was designed for fuel economy).

Have yet to drive a performance hybrid, but I would hope that a Tacoma hybrid would be similar design to the Insight, where it could not run electric only, just electric assist.
