I have the Dobinson lift kit with the blocks in the rear right now and am looking to soften the ride a bit. Seems this is the popular way of doing that... so my question is which would be better for 90% pavement driving? I also would like to buy once and be done with it. Thoughts? Horror stories?

Your rear suspension consists of factory springs with a block, correct?

At this time that is correct. Looking to make it a bit softer and get those blocks out of there.

Installing a AAL or new spring pack will only stiffen up the suspension. You will not be able to get a softer ride than the factory springs provide. Check your tire air pressure if you want to soften up the ride.

Icon claims the RXT has a lower spring rate than stock. Keep it on the setting it arrives with and enjoy.

I've been super happy with mine.

I don't know the specs on your block lift but RXT will gain about 2" on stock with the better (more comfortable) spring rate

Where have you seen this? Everything I've seen says it's stiffer than stock

ADS 2.5" extended travel with resi/adjusters.

But any shock should do great. My brother runs Bilstein 5160s and loves them. I think the Billys are the best value (my opinion)

**edit: their quote about extended or extra droop travel is spot on. These things flex so much more than stock it's not even funny.

I’d stay away from add a leaf. Cheaper but will be less comfortable than stock unless you're currently feeling like it’s too soft. Leaf packs are the way to go. The challenge is knowing how much weight you’ll be carrying most of the time to determine the proper set up.

This is entirely false and highly depending on what AAL. My ride quality increased 10 fold when I installed the ICON 3 leaf progressive AAL and also the wheelers 3 leaf progressive AAL

So without the overload, and with the lowest spring rate and no leaves added, you got around 2”?

    Not false at all.
The Icon 3 leaf AAL I had was awful. In fact, I just swapped them out for Deaver leaf packs and I’m very happy I did. It’s a night and day difference. If I were to do it again, I would not waste time or money on the Icon AAL.

Well yes compared to deavers. look all I’m saying is you cannot make a blanket statement. It’s highly dependent on what you have on your truck. For me and my truck, the ride quality was infinitely smoother than stock or with a block

I agree, you can’t compare the two. I just wanted to make a point the if one was choosing between the AAL or full pack, go for the full pack.

roughly 2 inches on option one, icons site is kind of wrong I think when it comes to lift height and load ratings between the 3 options.
