Headers and intake. Stock Y and catback. It’s really fun and sounds stock other than the intake growl.

Im interested in buying this but im not sure about its full capabilities and other little details.. anybody help to answer some questions.

    1) does the MPVI2 OBD device marry your truck? once i flash the tune i want and don't need this thing any more can i sell it?

    2) Is it possible to disable ODB checks like EVAP or o2 sensors?

it seems like it has a big list of capabilities and might be easier to list what it cant do... Thanks for the help

Id bet those headers help quite a bit (as well as intake)!

I bumped the voltage to maf table up by 4% across the board after looking at all my logs and LTFT's at all the various loads etc and initially after some driving LTFT's have been calmed down closer to 0's, more drivetime will be needed to verify this. Definitely interesting to see the differences in the banks at the lower throttle openings, like @Au1gr stated, the scavenging at the Y (really a T) probably plays into this.

    1) it is not paired to any particular vehicle. The same device can be used on a whole slew of other vehicles. Check out https://www.hptuners.com/vehicles for all the supported vehicles. You can use the device on more than one vehicle. The system uses credits for vehicle licensing.

    2) It can disable CEL for off-road use applications.

    1) The MPVI2 dongol gets married (licensed via credits) to your CAL and VIN, so essentially yes it gets married to your truck. BUT it can be licensed to more vehicles with future credit purchases down the road if you do wish to sell it... its not a one n done dealio.

    2) Yes, for off road use only.

EDIT - of course JustDSM is 3 steps ahead of me.

    It's DLX son!
I'd be interested to see if the retarded cam gears even the left and right banks out compared to stock timing - can't remember if you installed yours yet?

OK, to put a Tacoma ECU in a 2005-2015 Hilux, you need an early 2005-2008 ECU, and the Tacoma ECU connector plugs. Part numbers 90980-12142, 90980-12143, 90980-121144, 90980-12145, and 90980-12146.
Original Hilux plugs get de-pinned and use the new housings (same pin out, plugs just go into the Tacoma ECU in a different order than the are in the Hilux). Just need to run a pair of wires for the CANH and CANL lines to the OBD2 port and we are in business.
The only thing we haven't confirmed is the immobilizer, I'll probably have to get a matching one with keys for the first one till I debug everything.

Test out the OBDII immo reset procedure. If that doesn't work, solder the immo chip off the ecu. Super easy

In my install the Hilux plugs fitted with no drama into the Tacoma ecu
The immobilizer pin outs are the same for the Hilux and Tacoma 2005/08

So I have to ask is there a preference HP tuners has to certain part number ECU's to make sure I buy one that is known to work.

Yep...you are correct....they are coded differently. I couldn't ID register the Tacoma ecu with the Hilux immobilizer so the easiest path for me back in 2008 was to fit the Tacoma immobilizer

I think you'll find that HPtuners will be looking for the Target Calibration ID number in the ecu as against the actual ecu part number.
