    Working on it

They're retarded and I hate them.

That said I need a set of trax, probably would have helped me get that ford out without so much trouble this week.

I mean this is an expensive enough hobby, lets not have people on youtube think you need $1500 of plastic ramps to wheel..

I wonder do they get sponsor money to showcase the product .

Back in the old days one was not in the correct crowd unless you were running a Holley Carb (most often a double pumper) a Edelbrock manifold High RPM manifold Crane Cam and Hooker headers.

Giving you a engine that for the most ran like crap trying to drive legal

So I need a little help. My sister has a 2012 Hyundai Tucson and it is throwing a P0014 code which is the exhaust camshaft is over-advanced. The oil was just changed 3k miles ago, the oil is clean, I pulled the oil control valve solenoid for the VVT (it was really clean) and wiped down the screens. The code will not clear at all. Car runs and idles fine. I’m at a loss here

Haha, I believe that! Since finding TW, I have picked up a great bedrack from Voodoo fabricating in NY, some SCS wheels and then tried my hand at replicating one of Homertaco’s masterpieces.

Pure theory but it sounds like the Exhaust Cam Sensor is telling the Computer the cam is to far advanced .

I am guessing a typical magnetic type of sensor

Cold weather ?? Did the steel on the cam move. Did the sensor shift enough to give the false reading Squirrels chewing on the harness !!

Sounds like the actual actuator is bad; it's a cheap part. If the oil is as good as you say then you could possibly rule that out, although if there is low oil pressure it'll act up (IIRC those engines around that era were known for going bad so....) as well. However if the oil went way out of spec (thinning way down) this could happen too. Also possibly a wiring issue. At the worst it jumped a tooth or two on the timing chain, but it runs good so that would be the last check.

Yes the sensor is saying the cam is too far advanced which is possible. I think the sensor is a magnetic one but not sure. No squirrels

it’s possible the actuator is bad but if that were the case it would throw a code for the exhaust cam and the intake cam since it controls both, shouldn’t it? I doubt it’s a wiring issue especially since the engine bay is miraculously really, really clean. And yeah, the engine runs and idles fine (for a Hyundai) so I don’t think it’s the timing chain. Unless they decide to use a rubber timing belt in which case it would be harder to tell if it jumped

It may run fine advanced if the chain guides wore and slipped a tooth, seen this on the 2.8L GM 4 cylinders in the Colorado. Runs fine, but throws a CEL. If it were me I'd go for an oil change with an approved viscosity and filter from Hyundai. Don't know why, but I remember something about them not liking non OEM filters... If that doesn't do the trick it might be something more "sinister." What I mean is those engines in that year group suffer from a manufacturing problem where metal debris weren't properly removed from internal engine parts causing low oil pressure issues, which will cause this code. Now you're thinking "wouldn't that throw an oil pressure light?" Not necessarily, it might just be high enough not to trip the sensor, but casue the cam adjusters to not function.

At this point we’re not even going to attempt to diagnose or fix the issue. She’s planning on going to a Toyota dealer tonight and trading for a 4Runner as long as the payment is reasonable

Smart move as something tells me there's an ugly issue with the Hyundai starting to arise...

Yeaup. Hyundai’s are said to be able to run forever. They just might not run well forever...
