I forgot where I saw it, but some Harvard professor (or just some scholarly dude) was talking about emerging battery technologies and hammered a 16ga. nail through this cell and nothing happened. Maybe it was a graphene battery...

    EDIT:

Found it. It was a Tufts engineer on Nova. True LiPo batteries are safe. Most of what you see on the market are flexible LiIon, but not like this:

    Yes.
Natural Gas Condensate (also called Natural Gas Liquids) have many essential uses.
    Notably, plastics.

I have read a reasonable analysis that says that moving from ICE to EV will use about half the energy, or produce about half the emissions, forget which. Sorry I can’t find the exact article, but there’s this from Forbes (hardly a left-wing echo chamber):

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/energy...-gasoline-everywhere-in-america/#65102ab71f8c

If you want to know where your state gets electricity, there’s this great article:

    https://www.nytimes.com/interactive...tricity-generation-changed-in-your-state.html

So it varies from place to place. Long-term I don’t see how it could be any clearer to move away from petroleum and coal as much as possible.

I am kind of amused with some of the current arguments against “clean” energy—growing up in the Tennessee River valley, we learned from an early age how clean hydroenergy was—my dad drove across the “dam bridge” every day on his way to work, many of my friends and their families worked for TVA. Lots of pro-hydro propaganda. Then it moved toward nuclear with the Sequoyah nuclear plant. A classmate of mine works there right now. It’s not without risks, but it doesn’t produce anything significant in terms of emissions.

We couldn’t even see the mountains when I was a kid because of smog. Coal was the enemy. Still is as far as I’m concerned.

But I digress. The real limitation with EV isn’t the energy source, IMO, it’s the grid. And moving toward EV will be a strong incentive to modernize what should already have been modernized.

My dad worked on a plant that made feedstock for polyethylene. I remember talking to him about one of the processes that involved bringing in a 3 ft dia natural gas pipe at 50 psi. That's alot of gas.

Don't worry, I'm sure someone like @TacoBella will come back here with some inane assmad post about how much Toyota sucks and how much better his Ranger is.

That’s because the ranger is ugly and you can only say that so many times and it’s time to move onto important things :D

Plus it’s not a Ford forum

We are the laughing stock of the universe. The planet that is fueled by rotting plants. Consider a different angle for a moment. It is obvious that we are not alone in this universe. 42 million Goldie Locks planets in just our galaxy alone. And we are the only intelligent life among them? Obviously ET figured out this energy problem thousands if not millions of years ago. Our government is slowly rolling out the "we are not alone" facts so as not to upset our civilization's apple cart, NOR ITS ENERGY model. Doing so would crash the oil industry, and every religion. A very few hold the knowledge to our energy future, but revealing it, and where it came from, has attendant consequences that we are not ready to deal with so far. So to sum up this energy tangent on a Ford Ranger thread, I am very confident that our future is already secured, and depends on elements yet undiscovered or unavailable on this planet, elements similar to Element 115. I'm not losing any sleep over it. I am pretty sure that even the Greys like the sound of a big honking V8 driven in anger.

No. Research it for yourself. Start with the recent Navy F18 gun camera vids of UFOs. Then factor in the Navy's new policy of encouraging their pilots to now report their encounters, of which there have been many. Now their careers will not be ruined if they do.
