Bought the truck with 255,000. Just got around to the trans fluid today. Just did a drain and fill this morning, but after seeing the fluid, I think I will drive it a little with the new fluid, then pull the pan and clean the filter with the next round of new fluid.

Just guessing, but, I think the PO must not have believed in changing the fluid...

Yeah, and that's not lighting or camera affect. Luckily no burnt odor and the trans still shifts real well. It's just filthy.

Finished plumbing the IC and took it for a drive. Definitely better, intake air temps are 30 degrees cooler and that's with no inlet ducting. 20191221_135541.jpg 20191221_135546.jpg

I've been struggling today to get my new brake shoes adjusted correctly. The parking brake isn't holding very well on an incline, and I think it's because one side isn't engaging the drum properly.

I just took the truck for a short drive and after 15 minutes one drum was 250F and the other was 70F. It's obvious that the cold drum needs to have the shoes expanded, but is the other one too hot? Not finding any info on normal operating temps for our drum brakes. I'm thinking it should probably be tightened a couple clicks.

    [edit]

According to this 250F is a normal temp. I'm still curious if anyone has ever taken a drum temp reading on their Taco.
