Baja Designs: General Discussion Thread

@Baja Designs what is the size of the Allen bolt on the lenses of the squadron sports? Was swapping over lenses today and one bolt was seized on each light. Had to get crafty to get them out

 

Sounds like you could use some new Squadrons...

 

I’ll always take a free pair of lights from you Dave.

 

I know the feeling. Went to the local hardware store and found a replacement - M4 x .70 pitch. It's Phillips head and the finish is different, but it gets the job done.

 

I had the same problem as @EatSleepTacos
Went with the torx bit + hammer method to remove the stripped/seized Allen bolt.

That M4 Philips head sounds about the same to what I used as a replacement as well.

It was an easy enough fix, but annoying as hell considering my squadrons were brand new. I bought mine as the fog kit so I had to remove the factory bezel right outa the gate.

Ran them for a month before going back to stock as they do a horrible job as a fog light.

 

And a hilarious practical joke would be in the middle of the night during a wheeling trip, flip the light around and aim it at the rearview mirror through the back glass

Left is the factory BD screw which came in around 1/2 inch total, right is the replacement Phillips head which is ~ 7/16th.

Snapped this from my driveway but it’s not the greatest pic. I’ll aim them better once I get out somewhere darker and more open.

 

They look pretty impressive for a single led. What pattern?

 

Amber wide cornering. And these are very impressive. 2375 lumens vs the 3150 of a squadron sport. A little less light in a much smaller package. Very happy with the switch.

 

The pattern would be better the light was further forward, but I’m happy with it still.

 

your numbers are a bit off

S2 pros-2450
S2 sport-1130
S1-2375

so the S1s have slightly less light then an S2 pro and over double an S2 sport. They’re a great value for what you get.

 

Reread it, I said squadron sport. The 4 led one.

 

Reason I compared them is I had the amber lens on the squadron sport, but then mixed up my light game.
