    My shit is all stock.
    Well. Dang it.
Looks like I’ll be installing my new clutch and TOB sooner than later. My fairly new stock Toyota clutch with about 20k on it started slipping today.

Itll be a nice upgrade! My stock clutch started slipping after 8k miles with the blower. Plate still looked like it had a lot of meat on it though. Guess the clamping force/tq rating just isnt high enough

I'm at almost 80k on the stock clutch with a SC... just started slipping.

You have any sc mods? i threw a 2.8 on like two days after adding the sc. :D

I also wasnt nice to the old clutch, but i had a new one waiting at home to install so i knew i was on borrowed time so it didnt really matter

All stock on the blower.... I'm sure the pulley makes a huge difference to the OEM clutch!

Mine is 2.5 pulley, @JustDSM magic, headers, etc.

First slippage noticed in fifth gear. Accelerating to pass on the freeway. Boost came in, rpms jump up, truck barely accelerates. shit.

I needed an excuse to install the new TO bearing. Current clutch was doomed anyway once the cams go in.

Yup stock clutches with the smaller pulleys don’t last very long! And yeah it seems the clutches start slipping in the higher gears first.

    holy crap
was thinking of going stock replacement but I guess not,
aftermarket upgraded pressure plate only seems to cost a little more

I see some options are ClutchMasters and URD Stage 2
people on Audi forums don't seem to like CM for clutches. I wonder what works and is good for a Tacoma.

I like my URD stage 3 a lot, very streetable, but still grabs hard. My truck is far from stock though. Also something to keep in mind, i've read several stories of the URD stage 3 not lasting more than 50k miles. I will be going with SPEC next time around if it doesnt last longer than that

I have the URD stage 3 as well, this is actually my 2nd set... some people complain that the clamping force of this pressure plate may be too stiff for daily driving- but coupled with this CM hydrobearing it's honestly not bad at all... Very streetable in my opinion, and I daily my truck thru Houston traffic. If I need to punch it it grabs like hell...

This is your 2nd URD stage 3? how long did your first one last? Yeah the pedal is a bit stiff, but i've been dailying mine the past week and you get used to it tbh. Mine grabs hard too, a little stiffer pedal is worth the added tq rating i think

I got ~60k out of mine but i beat it like hell, I put up some pictures earlier in this thread for reference- I did do a considerable amount of wheeling with this set up where i had to slip the clutch to get out of sticky situations. I do agree, a little stiffer pedal is worth the added tq rating, specially if you are boosted !

I hammer on mine regularly as well.. If i get 60k out of it, ill probably throw another one in there as i do really like the clutch. Can slip it if needed, but hardly any "chatter" that you normally expect out of high performance pressure plates

What an amazing thread to stumble upon yesterday!!!

I have been living with the chirping TOB for longer than I can really remember... I purchased the truck new from a dealer in Gainesville FL in '06 and honestly I don't remember when it (the chirp) first showed up...but its been there for a long time... I am currently at 233k miles (w/ free new Frame/Suspension last summer due to RUST!), and I am still on the original clutch!!!

So my biggest question for TW is going to be why wouldn't I want to go with another OE clutch when I do this CM Hydraulic bearing conversion? (I just committed on the group by linked above page)

I do tow a 3k lbs sailboat throughout the year, around the state and up the East coast every few years. I use to work 50 miles away (where I racked up a lot of those miles) for about 4-5 years... but I'm really lucky now to now have a daily driving around 5-6 miles in town for the foreseeable future(!)

I do have dreams of someday doing a 1uzfe V8 swap....

Is it logical to just go with a CM clutch when i'm going to be using their TOB...? but i'm reading that URD is also a good option? What else do y'all run? Thank you in advance TW for any opinions!

what flywheel would everyone be installing?

I hear LuK has quality control issues with many flywheels coming out bad from the factory; that their teeth are designed wrong and result in failure to mesh with the starter 5-30% of the time.
Sucks, because they have a good price on RockAuto.

Supposedly OEM Aisin is best; but one dillemma is if you're doing the job on a Saturday but the machine shop is only open weekdays (to try resurfacing the stock flywheel, if it's even in good enough condition to resurface)

there's a bunch of used ones on car-part for $60-120 that look rusty.

I hear machine shops charge around $50 to resurface

Well, trans is out. Clutch looks just fine. Barely any wear. I wouldn’t hesitate to put it right back into a non supercharged truck.

It just couldn’t hold the torque of the blower and the smaller pulley.

Flywheel will go out monday to be surfaced.

PDM quill sleeve came right off. No issue there at all. I suppose it had only been on there for 20k miles.
