No hints are given as to where Lady and the Tramp takes place, other than somewhere in the Northeast because it snows heavily in the winter; In the direct-to-video sequel, the location is implied to be somewhere in New England, possibly Maine...

Lady and the Tramp was originally released in 1955, but the animation looks just as fresh now as it did back then!

In 2017 I pulled into a gas station off I80 in NJ to find an Isuzu truck with diesel overflowing out of the tank and a huge puddle in the lot, the attendant and truck driver were inside I had to lean on my horn to get there attention

Last night I said I remembered my Grandma buying The Aristocats on VHS in 1995. I looked online and found out that the movie was first released on VHS in North America on April 24th, 1996. This doesn't seem to make much sense because we moved from Pennsylvania to California in the summer of 1996, and I remember watching The Aristocats numerous times for at least a year before we moved. One thing I distinctly remember is that my Grandma ordered her copy, and had it shipped to her front door, instead of buying it at a store.

I mentioned this to @ColoradoTJ in a PM, and he hit the nail on the head...

I stated that my beloved Aspergers thread has become an impromptu movie and TV show review thread, and he said "Sounds just like TW". Truer words have never been spoken!

Seriously, there's gotta be three or four pages dedicated to the Nicktoon As Told By Ginger, and well over a page dedicated to Hey Arnold!

There's also a pretty significant number of pages on old Disney animated films, specifically on cars featured in those films; Rescuers, Rescuers: Down Under, The Aristocats, and Lady and the Tramp. With the exception of Rescuers: Down Under, all of those movies are over forty years old; Aristocats will be fifty next year and Lady and the Tramp is almost 65 years old! Even in Pinocchio, which doesn't have any motorcars in it due to the setting but is one of Disney's oldest animated films, the animation quality is just as fresh now as it was when the film was first released in 1940!

And just like I thought, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was one of the first Disney animated feature films, released in December 1937. The first was Academy Award Review of Walt Disney Cartoons, which was released in May 1937, and which I'd never heard of until I looked it up. I saw Snow White for the first time in 1993, with my mom, when it was re-released for the umpteenth time. The animation was of such high quality that I thought it was a brand new movie, especially since I'd seen Aladdin (which was new) barely a year earlier. I did not realize that Snow White was as old as it was until my Grandma, who was born in 1926, said she saw it in the theater with her brother when it first came out.

Also, when we lived in North Wales from 1990 to 1996, the AMC theater on Route 309 was our go-to theater. I think may parents started taking me to movies in theaters in 1992, when I was 3 years old. Movies I saw there include:

    • Aladdin (1992)
    • Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937, but re-released 1993)
    • Pocahontas (1995)
    • Muppet Treasure Island (1996)
    • Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco (1996)
    • Oliver & Company (1988, but re-released 1996)

Homeward Bound II was released to theaters in March 1996, but that was an era when it seemed like it took up to a year for movies to be released on home video. However, we moved to California in the summer of 1996, and I distinctly remember my mom buying me a VHS tape of Homeward Bound II at a Walmart (possibly in Indiana) to watch in the car while we were driving across country; I had a Symphonic 9-inch TV/VCR combo that plugged into the cigarette lighter, which my parents bought especially for the cross-country move.

By comparison, Toy Story was released to theaters in November 1995, but it was not released on home video until almost a year later. I asked for an received it for Christmas in 1996.

Obtaining the live action version of The Grinch on video was particularly torturous. I first saw it advertised in a movie theater in Virginia Beach in February 2000, when my parents took me to see Snow Day. It was not released until November or December of 2000, and my school psychologist of all people took me to see it (along with her own kids and a couple of her students). It was finally released on video in November of December of 2001 WTF?!?!

Until 1992 or so, I was too young to really comprehend boredom on long drives. I slept most of the time, and my parents would play tapes with kid songs on them to keep me entertained when I was awake. In 1996, facing a cross-country trip from Pennsylvania to California, my parents bought a Symphonic 9-inch TV with a built-in VCR and two cords (one for a household outlet and one for an automotive cigarette lighter). Every time we went on a long drive, this TV was set up in the backseat of my dad's 1996 Nissan Pathfinder. One time in 1999 or so, we had to haul a piece of furniture from our house in Virginia Beach to my aunt and uncle's house in Northern Virginia. This piece of furniture would not fit in the Pathfinder, so we had to take my dad's 1990 Mazda pickup. I initially refused to cram into the tiny backseat of the B-series for a 3-hour drive, but my dad said he'd rig up the TV in the back of the truck and I relented.

The Symphonic was relegated to the status of guestroom TV after we bought the conversion van in 2000.

When we moved to Whidbey Island in July 2000, we had to live in a Navy hotel for about a month because the family we were renting from hadn't moved out yet. Actually, it was better than a hotel. It was a cluster of brand new single-wide trailers, each with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, central air (something most houses on Whidbey Island DID NOT have), a TV with a VCR, a full kitchen with a dishwasher, and private laundry room!

Anyway, the Navy family we were renting the house from had a 1994 Chevy S10 and a 1994 Ford Explorer. The dad had been transferred to Portland, Maine. They drove the Explorer from Washington to Maine, while the Navy paid to ship the S10. I still laugh when I think about this...

Instead of buying a portable TV/VCR combo like that one I had for maybe $200, they had somehow managed to hook up a VCR to a tiny black and white TV (like the one pictured below) and rigged it up in the center console of the Explorer so the kids could watch it in the backseat. Seriously, why didn't they buy a portable TV/VCR? It would have saved a lot of space in the Explorer! The kids showed me this setup when they came by to see the house one last time, and they were watching The Phantom Menace (worst Star Wars movie ever, no thanks to Jar Jar Stinks!).

I thought Jar Jar Binks was cool when I saw the movie for the first time in 2000 (I was 11 years old, so cut me some slack). Now, I agree with @Plain Jane Taco; Jar Jar Stinks ruined an already unimpressive movie!
