They aren't selling fully loaded ones around here for 30, maybe 35. I would consider a lightly used lariat model or maybe the off road but the basic xlt one I looked at didn't impress.

Someone snapped a picture from Ford. Here’s where I saw it.

The Lariant doesn’t offer anything over the XLT besides leather interior. Otherwise you can get everything on the XLT and a lot on the base XL too.

Isn't that par for the course for most ford vehicles? I thought that was their SOP. The reality is, the ranger needs to drop their stupid price tags down. That's why the ranger crushed sales back in the day. It was a solid truck but more importantly it was a cheaper truck.

Pretty sure you get a nicer stereo and wheels too. If I'm gonna spend 30+ it should look like 30+ imho.

MSR is better, but no weapons grade fuel as a by product shelved that project.

That still seems really high. More than I paid for my Patinum Tundra with every conceivable option.

So sort of like Toyota has done with the Tacoma over the rest of the new competition, then. :notsure:

Yeah I mean for how much you spend on a ranger, you can just get the f150. But that's also sort of the point. People will really want the ranger, and pay more for it, or just get the F150 and continue to make it the best selling vehicle.

XLT w/ tech brings the adaptive cruse and braking stuff that Tacoma has at the SR. Honestly the SR is such a good deal. I have the TRD, but still, the SR is a great truck.

Um okay the Ranger has way more power, speed, and torque then the Tacoma any gen. The point is if people want more of that there offering a solution. Nothing wrong with that. Just talk to turd gen owners and all those who spent 800 just to get the transmission tuned right.

The SR is very basic and more inline with the XL. The XLT is more like the SR5. FX4 to TRD OR. There’s so many options you can add to those packages too which makes it hard to compare price points. I got a XLT Sport package which has nice wheels, remote start, big Apple play stereo, with all matching trim, and all the safety tech below the price of a SR Tacoma which has barely has any of that.

Yeah the tacoma is expensive, that's known. I think the ford is a great truck, but I would have just gotten an F150 instead of the ranger if I went that route. I do like the engine though, that thing will last forever. Ultimately, the ranger was better in almost every category. Still got the tacoma.

Ya if the prices were similar and didn’t have a bad experience with the 3rd gen Tacoma I would have done the same.

I don't think either is a bad choice. Hell, I don't think any mid size is a bad choice right now other than the GM 8 speed. Otherwise, it's just what you prefer and want. The nissan is awesome and cheap, definitely a good truck too.

Best price I found on a crew cab SR 4wd was 27.5 before taxes, sr5 was 30600. Ranger is attractive price and features but it's kind of doofy looking and stuff like removing the wheel to change the oil seems weird to me.

Don't have to remove the wheel. There's a flap behind it that you can access without removing it.

That being said, for something as common as an oil filter change, they should have designed around that even better than "a flap behind the wheel". But, you don't have to remove the wheel.

I agree it looks a little silly. Bed sides are too high in relation to the rest of it, and that lines up with the windows so the windows look short.
