You could just touch it up with some flat black model paint and call it good.

These are racks that are suppose to be used to carry stuff on which means they will end up getting scuffed and scratched anyways.

I get it but damn, wouldn't have taken the guys packing the parts much extra material or effort to ensure this didn't happen

I could yeah, but when I spent $650 I didn’t expect to have to. Being in Ohio having the zinc primer was the only thing that made me okay with the steel mounts. I’m well aware of what it’s gonna be used for. If it’s gonna have paint chips I want to be the one to put them there, not have them be there right out of the box.

I’m not sure why people always try to make it seem okay when metal truck parts arrive with imperfections. Would you buy a new tire that needed a plug, or a new seat cover that needed some stitches on a rip in the material?

20191209_180334.jpg My Prinsu box when it arrived wasn't that great either. A little more care in shipping items would go a long way. This came from Truck Brigade.

I think I have found another SIGNIFICANT "con" to these racks. The bottom edge of the front plate is SUPER close hitting the roof. So Victory4x4 provides a snap-on bulb-seal to prevent the metal-on-metal contact.

The current issue I see is that the bulb kind of catches dirt and debris. Over just the last serveral months of the rack being installed, I have moved the seal back and noticed the clearcoat is now scuffed directly where the bulb seal makes its contact.

I am unsure about a permantent solution, other than having the edge of the front plate cut up about an inch.

I think I may machine longer slots in the front plate, and even slot the holes in the side plates to allow for adjustment, temporarily.

This 3m paint protection film works great for under the bulb seal and will help prevent that clear coat scuffing in dusty, dirty environments.

Well, I don't think they were thrown loose in the box as that's certainly not how we ship things. But I can check with shipping to see if anything in that process needs to be looked at. If are thinking about our products I would welcome you to come take a shop tour and see our whole process before you decide either way

If you hit those spots with a couple of dabs of black enamel, nail polish, hell even RTV; you would never have to worry about it again. The zinc primer won't let rust spread beyond those points. That said, super sorry that it happened and like I said above, I can check with shipping to see what's up with how they got packaged. Of course, I'd be happy to have customer service reach out and get you another set if you didn't want to mess with any of that.

Those rack mounts are a bad example because making those show up unscathed SHOULD be easy peasy. So that incident isolated, as far as large metal parts like bumpers and sliders. It's insanely difficult to design packaging to ship those products (especially coated) to a customer without damage. Well, I take that back, it's difficult to do it with size and weight restrictions from shippers, for what customers expect shipping to cost. We've been working on our packaging process for 10+ years now and have just got into the groove in the past couple of years. I can tell you the cost of packaging for these large items is mind-boggling, but our damaged product rate due to shipping is very low because of it. For instance, those closed-cell foam bags you may have seen protecting products in our boxes? The part A and B chemical for that foam is ~$50 a gallon.

I feel for any company that has to deal with this, but I totally understand the customer's side too. You spent good money on a product, and you'd like it to show up in perfect condition.

Big stack of powder-coated rack parts on this shipping floor this morning! Time to process these into kits and get them on the way to their new owners :bikewheelie:

I know that your team is ready and able to handle it, which is one of the primary reasons I went through your company. Things are solid and a couple dings dont bother me as I'm just about to head out camping today and sure I will add more in. As a recommendation, I do think the end caps of the cardboard shipping box are the weak point and maybe if they were covered a bit more. I am sure there are people who will cry a bit that the first ding wasn't made my them but I'm aok with it.

    Thank you Truck Brigade!!

I purchased a Victory roof rack for my cab and topper. Putting it together was pretty simple, mounting it was easy, and the materials seem pretty solid as well. The customer service has been great too.

The only thing that has come up is the quality of the powder coat. There was about 2 dozen spots that didn’t have powder coat on them, 18 of those on the topper rack. I’ve reached out to my sales rep at Victory with pictures and am waiting to hear back from them. For what it’s worth I’m not too upset about this, but it was pretty unexpected based on every other part of my experience with Victory - everything else has been top notch. Even with this I’d buy again.

@monkeyevil Is it possible to get a rack thats not powder coated? I want to do some cutting and drilling and it would need to be re-powder coated when Im done.
