Headlight retrofit questions

I'm a bit ignorant in the subject of headlight retrofits. Compared to other projector kits I've seen, these seem pretty cheap. And I believe I've seen that D2S are the good ones? But maybe I'm wrong. What am I missing?

That is for a pair of bi-xenon projectors only. You will need to add ballasts, wiring harness, bulbs & shrouds.

 

So that plus one of the xentec hid kits and yours have a decent setup?

 

I don't know anything about the Xentec HID bulbs/harness. This is an area where I wouldn't go cheap. The last thing you want is a headlight out because of a cheap bulb or ballast. I know Morimoto & Hylux are well regarded brands. I would also recommend adding a HID relay harness. They are not required but will protect your factory wiring & provide stable voltage to the HID bulbs & ballasts.

The Retrofit Source (TRS) is a well regarded vendor on the TacomaWorld site. They have a kit specifically for a 2011 Tacoma. They usually offer a discount for forum members as well.

Thats what I was looking at initially because of a thread on here. But it's a huge price difference. How does the led compare to hid?

 

The lux output is pretty close to HID from what I remember. I have been very happy with the output and feel like I'm driving a Mercedes or BMW. Hahaha.

 

If the M-LED fails do you have to break the headlight back apart to replace it?

 

That was another of my concerns. If the led goes out (which I understand, they SHOULDNT, but in the world of Chinese electronics, you never know) do you have to replace the whole unit?

 

Yes you do. Sorry, I was never notified that anyone inquired about them. I've been running them for quite some time now with no issues.
