Installing Morimoto HID Headlights - installation guide?

Did you hear back from anyone? I'm interested in a bracket as well.

 

I would not mind a bracket. Would look better than the velcrow stuck to the side of my battery

 

I'd order some brackets as well if there are any going up. I've been holding off on my overall waiting to get the mounting hardware together.

I did the same as everyone else, as nobody got back in touch with me. If you search there's a Home Depot bracket mentioned, you just need to bend it and drill a few holes, hit it with paint. Turns out nice and costs $20 with good hardware. Mine turned out very OEM looking. I doubt anyone could tell it wasn't OEM actually. Let me see if I can upload a pic or two.

Did you use two of the same bracket or two different brackets?

 

They are two of the same brackets. Someone posted a picture of the part from home depot, it has a model number in the picture. They were some roof brackets but worked great. I just cut whatever wasn't necessary off with a 3" cut off wheel, then hit it with a flap disk so it wasn't jagged. Drilled my holes, bent to fit what I wanted, and then painted a few coats.

 

I had a buddy whip these up for me, just haven’t finish the install (Test fit, drill ballast holes/mounting hole and paint)

the are made to bolt to the inner fender lip on both sides holding the ballast. I’m not sure if I’ll have enough clearance behind the washer fluid though.

Can a homie get a link? My ballast and relay are velcrowed to my frame and battery.

 

This is home Depot canada, but I just searched "T strap" and scrolled until I found the 6x5 14 gauge.

Where are you guys grounding your set to in the engine bay? I'm using a self tapping screw to the right of the battery but it's not very tight. Not sure if it's the fault of the screw or that wall there is too thin for a self tapper to get a good bite.

 

I grounded mine using the same battery ground location. I haven’t had issues with this

I wouldn’t use a self taper for a ground personally but I’m not an electrician either

 

Thank you for the info. I only used a self tapper because the install guide said not to use the same ground as the battery or something else. I'm wanting to get away from my ground.

Also, driver side sometimes doesn't fire and I'll get out and wiggle the ground or push connections and then it'll come on. If my ground was the issue I would expect neither to work.

 

I have no idea, I don’t remember seeing to use a separate ground then the battery. And if you can wiggle the self tapper then you tightened it to much and it’s now wallowed out the hole. Which as a non electrician I’d say would be the 1st step to my problem solving. Fix that and see if you have the same issues. Either get a bigger screw and don’t over tighten or bolt/nut if you can get to the backside or different ground point.

 

Many thanks for your input. I might try a slightly larger self tapper. How long have you been running your current setup as it is?

At the top of the photo is the ground closest to the battery- I only have the hids added here.

at the bottom of the photo is another ground further down between the battery. I have my front camera and led bay light grounded there.

I plan to eventually setup a power tray thing and that red wire is temp because it’s not hidden (power wire for front cam). I need to clean it up
