Looking to replace the factory speakers when I go to do my Z-120BT install next week. No Amp and no Sub for this install. Just want quality speakers that are easy to swap in. The factory ones are already distorting and the volume sucks.

What size speakers do we have? For the life of me, I cannot find the OEM sizes for the 6 speaker non JBL system. LOL 6 1/2" in all 4 doors??

I am looking for BETTER info, but from everything I can find, it is a 6x9 in the front door with a tweeter higher up on the door, and 6.5s in the rear doors.

Thanks! Going to see what Crutchfield has for it. I guess what was confusing is that some are putting 6 1/2" in for the 6x9s.

check out http://www.*********.com/ they have a lot of how to's as well as mounts that allow you to place any size speaker into the original mounts. Good luck.

    Thanks

Even if I am putting back the same size? Wonder is Crutchfield supplies them.

OEM are 6X9" and a component tweeter up front, 6.5" in the rear. The OEMs have a built on speaker adapter so you'll have to get aftermarket adapters to put on your speakers. Personally I went with 6.5" in all four doors (just buy the appropriate adapters). I bought mine on eBay for about $20, remember they're just adapters you don't need to spend a lot on them.

The factory speakers are a 6x9 and the rears are 6.5s.

In either case you will need speaker brackets to make them fit (and be mountable)the the hole in your door is actually bigger then a typical 6x9. You will also need speaker brackets/rings to clear your windows when they are in the down position.

I would recomment a set of 6.5" component speakers for the front as opposed to 6x9s, they are a bit better acoustically because they are round and not oval in shape.

thanks. so the more "ways" a speaker has the better it will sound? i saw speakers that go all the way up to 5-way on cruthfield.

I would go with 2-way and upgrade later by adding a 8" or 10" sub. You're not going to get much bass from a 6.5" door speaker no matter the quality.

thanks for the info guys! ill just go with a good set of 3-way speakers. i dont really need to much bass out of them since i already have a 12" L5 kicker.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of getting component 6.5" and component tweeter for the front doors and a 2-way 6.5 for the rear doors. I'll be using just the Pioneer AVIC Z-120BT, no amp or sub.

    I wonder why they used a 6x9.

Any suggestions for decent speakers to replace the factory ones? No amp, no sub, 4 x 15w RMS (50 peak) from the AVIC-120BT

I just bought Infinity Reference 6x9's. Infinity makes great stuff, 6x9 for the largest cone, and a 94db sensitivity rating. The Kappas are rated at 96 db!!! but required more mounting depth. The ref's are louder than the stock spkrs even wired to the factory HU and the bass reproduction is much better controlled.

Looking forward to my JVC XR810....coming tuesday!

I'm looking around, does scosche make an adapter for the rear like ********* does? Sorry about the questions, Toyota has me a little confused right now about why they did it this way.

Edit: its looks like its gonna be the SAT6 for the rear and the SAT69 for the front if I have my info right.
