Girlfriend got me my first impact wrench for Christmas! Decided to compliment it with a driver too.

Tomorrow, gears go in. Working alone so I figure front will take 5-6 hours, and rear should be much quicker since I’ve done it before.

Need to put new clamps on the CV’s too. Not sure if I can just slide the CV boots down to add more grease to replace what I lost (any info would help)!

Bought cheap(er) diff oil for the 500 mile break-in, then Lucas after.

Nope, no locker at all. I’m honestly not worried about it. So far, been able to go everywhere I’ve wanted and been fine. Few times I’ve been stuck but gas/brake at the same time usually gets me through.

And I actually flipped the 37’s. A lot of people warned me about them in snow so I am going with a different brand. I’ll actually keep the Tacoma rack, and when it breaks, just keep swapping it. You can buy a new rack w/ lifetime warranty for $300.

Knocked out the front diff install yesterday. It’s very straight forward, but patience testing. And putting the diff back in with only 1 person, trying to rotate it correctly was a major PITA. Then once it’s in, you have to blindly attach the oil line and the bolt for the bracket...Took an hour to just do that. The ECGS had the oil line clocked too close to the body, so I had to pull on it while installed to get everything to line up again. Total time was 6.5 hours. Could probably do it again in 4. Still need to take the front apart again and check some bolts and torque down the CV axle nut to 173. Also need to replace front CV clamps...It’s nearly impossible to get off the ones on right now.

Taking a day off to go to a concert, then finishing up the rear tomorrow. Heard it’s a lot easier so I’m excited. Gotta pump both diffs with fluid.

Definitely need a new jack and a solid wood spacer.

4.88’s are installed! Not much difference. Slight howl on the freeway.

Sounds about right. My 315’s barely measure 33.5. 37’s eh?

Saw that. What tire did you go with? What gears did you have before 4.88? I wish I had gone 4.88 instead of 4.56 but curious how much of a difference it would have been.
