Mine earns its' keep by taking me everywhere I want to go

 

Yeah it is an amazing opportunity. I was military and got into healthcare once I
reenlisted. After working in the operating room for about 15 years I decided to go back to school. I have worked a lot of PAs and have many as friends and it is an awesome field. Blacksmithing is actually really cool too though for sure. I love watching Forged in Fire! I would definitely like to try it at some point once I’m done with school.

Apart from a bouncier feeling in the back over bumps/dips it was hard to tell that it was even back there.

Good for you!! One of my best friends is a doctor and he says it is a terrific field, and certainly a growing one. I honestly was hoping my son would take the Air Force Academy opportunity (not so much West Point LOL). He's a great young man, and while he knew he would love the academy environment - he is vastly different from my other 2 kids - he does not want to be away from our farm for that many years. I know NOTHING about blacksmithing (never watched that show), not sure he can make a living (LOL) doing it for sure, but at 18, he is not lazy, has performed wonderfully at everything he has done...I'm OK with him figuring things out. I'm 57 - 7 years from retirement and still not sure what I want my life's work to be; I never had the time to figure it out (HA HA).

I’m 41 and I have kids that are grown too. You gotta let them figure stuff out sometimes even though it may not be the ideal decision. I would definitely encourage them if they are interested. Going to PA school takes a lot of motivation and dedication but it is 100% worth it. I’m sure you can make a good living blacksmithing if you can find the right gig or make amazing stuff. I actually plan to take automotive courses and music lessons once I’m done with PA school just to keep learning and become better at stuff I enjoy!

Wow you started early - sometime I wish I had - mine are 16, 18 (turned this month) and 19. The oldest is in her sophomore year at college - my youngest is graduating a year early (mistake on our part probably). Ha on the letting them figure things out part - my wife, friends all tell me that - while I know everyone is right...tough for an A type personality old business man like me...but I'm learning/trying. My kids are really into music as well (piano, guitars, banjo, violin, voice)...me not so much - I'm so bad I don't see anything wrong with my Tacoma's radio/speakers. 41 is young and it sounds as if you've made some great decisions. I wish you luck/well - though you are making your own luck. Coach John Wooden said, he always found that the folks that practiced the hardest were the luckiest. I'm paraphrasing. Merry Christmas
