you must not be looking at the awful pictures on TW that i have been looking at :(
or experienced it first hand at the salvage lot

i am more worried about the future potential cost of this if nothing is taken care of now
it looks like its probably at least a $50k future problem now, or $10k to $15k to repair my old tacoma
i just want to be proactive and not worry so much!

Funny but true... I scored the ARB used from a local TWer. Too good of a deal to pass up. Anyway, yesterday I'm taking the plates off to take down to DMV this morning (picking up personalized plates) and noticed a couple of rust chips. Without thinking really I grabbed a little sand paper . Bad mistake. lol. Now I have a much larger painting project to plan.

Seen all the pictures and well aware of the potential damage rust can do to our trucks and vehicles in general if left unchecked. Seasonal maintenance doesn't have to be open heart surgery. I hear you and get it but what I'm trying to say I guess is don't kill yourself trying to fix it. Anyway, cheers - have a great day and Happy Holidays to you.

Even at $10k, sorry ol' taco - even though I drove you off the lot 17 years ago...

yes, that is what the approximate current price is on a new Tacoma after all taxes, license, fees, etc.
looked at one on the dealer lot with a sticker price nearly $48k

Hell $1k in rust protection is too much for me. I spend maybe $30 a year on fluid film and paint/sandpaper.

I dont love my truck that much...

pissing my manager off by submitting pto/sick time tomorrow but idgaf. To work a PCP office on Christmas eve is silly. BTW when should I bother insurance? they said last Tuesday they would review the pictures n stuff but haven't hear any further progress.... I would've had the new bumper on by now if I went that route

i have 30 years experience with mid west Toyotas
the expected life span here seems to be about 25 years before its time to junk it, like my 23yr old Corolla is, and the 2 cars before that
my Tacoma baffles me on its handling and driveability with nothing other than routine maintenance, which the Corolla certainly had as well but is near crapping out

if it did not ride and handle so well i would not be as concerned about its upkeep
that is all i am saying, i had no idea these little trucks can make the 200k 300k or more with not many mechanical issues

you probably live in an area where there are still many around on the roads in very good condition
not so much around here, at least not ones without the crutch (pre 2oo1 models)

At the DMV counter and go figure, I get the rep who moves like a turtle and takes literally 5 minutes to walk to the other side of the room
    :turtleride:

and now it's "sir, I'll be right back...."

so a final update, she comes back after about 15 minutes (wtf), with her supervisor no less and they proceed to start looking through her drawer at reg year tags. I realize exactly what they are looking for and say (while pointing at my plates) "Ma'am, is this the 2020 sticker you're looking for?"

"OHHHHH! Did I already take it out of the drawer? I guess I did."

 OMFG. Get me out of here.

Actually fresh meat has its own taste. We’re used to frozen meat that looses its taste, hence the need for more seasoning.
