Was going back and forth with so many CL posts debating if I should drive from NorCal to SoCal to buy a non-paint matched camper when @Toki helped me find the matching camper that I was looking for. Couldn’t be happier.

To anyone that has the Thule or Yakima tracks on their long bed cap. Could one of you measure the distance between the mounting bolts from front to rear.

I know the ones n my SB cap are not all equally spaced.

See my post on this tread from 11/28/2019 #7936
There's a photo of the inside.
There are 2 about 3 inches apart on the ends then the others completely vary from 11 to 8 inches apart.
My rack was installed by ARE when I ordered it.

Yeah. On my short bed cap starting with the front bolt I measure 11.375" to the second, 11.75" from second to third, 11.875" from 3-4 and 11.25" from 4-5.

I would like to get the measurements for a long bed cap for an idea I have brewing. Tried looking on Thule and Yakima's site to see if they list the spacing but they don't.

I hunted around until I found mine "used". It was only a year and a half old, color matched and $450. My friends have purchased new and have nothing beneficial other than a warranty on the color.

BTW I'm from Stafford, VA! Love me some Sam's Subs!

It's really up to you. I mean there wouldnt be any big significant differences unless you want a bunch of options. If you are wanting all kinds of options, it may become trying to find a unicorn so you'll have to be patient and constantly hawking the internet. I bought mine (leer) new and don't have any regrets. I wanted vented windoors for my short bed, carpeted and sliding removable front window.

I searched for six months until I finally broke down and bought a new one.

I searched for over 6 months with no luck. For me, the absolute only issue with buying mine new was the cost compared to used. I was tired of searching though and bit the bullet. No regrets!

Looking at buying a used shell next week potentially...the below picture isn’t a big deal right? Looks to me like it could probably be glued back down...

    Bone f’n stock for now
Really depends on what you want. A “new” one you’re getting a warranty on the paint finish and the gas struts. If you can live with knowing you’re fixing those on your own then go used. For me the cost of new was not in my fuck bank. I wanted one but not bad enough to shell out 1600-4000 for a new one. I searched and did a road trip until I found one with things I knew I wanted and things I knew I could “upgrade” on my own. Mine was stock for about 9 hours. 5.5 hours driving it back. 3.5 hours sleeping. Then the drill came out. The window tint went on, lights went in and today I’m actually using those drilled holes to finish mounting my cap rack.
