I love mine, and am aggressively paying down the loan on my 2013. Should be paid off next summer. I love this truck and will probably have it for 250k+ miles (currently at 40k) if all goes well.

I just wish it got better MPG, but for me I can live with that for now as the one negative. I traded in a Toyota Matrix which got better MPG, but was terrible to drive. Like driving a tin can.

    Anyone else rolling the Tacoma?

    PS...
I was watching The Speed Channel, can't remember the specific show, but the dude had a special on products/mods to improve MPG. He didn't have any tests to prove the outcomes or if these in fact work to improve MPG. I was also wondering how much of this was to showcase the sponsors. But here's what he had.

    1. K&N Intake, with large diameter tubing from air box to the throttle body.
    2. Computer. The kind you plug into the onboard computer. Don't remember any brands here.
    3. E3 Spark plugs. Look pretty efficient.
    4. Royal Purple Synthetic Oil (engine, tranny, transfer case, diff).
    5. Cat back exhaust, option with aftermarket cat.
    6. Headers. He liked Hookers.

Have any of you boys tried these on the 05+ Taco's and had noticeable results?

Also, I thought there was a thread about the cold air intake K&N and how they actually ran hotter.

    Yep, 2015 w/90k on it. My favorite of the 5 Toyota’s I’ve owned. 5CB441E6-7A10-41EC-A443-69918396B7B8.jpg

A Matrix is our family's second car. Slow slow slow but it gets decent mileage at least. It's a typical Toyota though as it has been extremely reliable and have had to replace only an exhaust donut and rewelded the exhaust manifold that cracked in half.

Tacomas are definitely not known and loved for their gas mileage.

I agree with most, except I loved my Matrix till I fried the transmission ( manual, shoulda checked the fluid more).
That being said, this winter gas is killing my mileage, I think.
I'd like to know what other make trucks get for mileage? Like the Ford F-150, or Nissans?

    Wife says I'm crazy......

MPG ? its a truck so you can't expect 28 mpg......18-19 is acceptable (depending how you drive)

I've read and heard that the Nissan trucks are thirsty as well.
From my personal experience, my 2012 F-150 SuperCab with the 3.7 NA V6 got better mileage than my Tacoma.

Yea @Marc70 I agree with the winter gas. It doubled the milage on our CR-V soon as we filled with it.

Cant avoid it here it seems.

My truck is at 160k miles and I just got it.. me and her are planning on 300k+ of beautiful miles ahead.

Transmission feels solid, oil changes never missed, all systems are go. Just need some KO2’s and some 5100’s and I’m happy for a looooong time.

5100s are a very good shock for not a lot of money.

That was my experience with a 2011 F150. Same motor and also a super cab. I like everything else better with the Tacoma.

I wish my Mazda RX8 got the same gas mileage as my Taco. Sadly the RX8 burns about as much gas as a 1972 Chrysler New Yorker with a 440.

I’m here in Sheridan, Wyoming with the family for Christmas. The Tacomas multiply and have babies here. Very popular!
