7x6 Mini H1 7.0 retrofit (EASY: no cutting/jbweld)

Your supposed to test the solenoids w/a 9v like 50 times to test for failure. As far as the lens, did you bake them on with heat?

 

Im pretty sure the issue is the wire connector socket on the solenoid.

Did not bake the seal, I think I just need more build up in between the Glass lens and the metal housing

 

Came out well in the end, alot more work because of the metal buckets, better quality material and wouldn't have to worry about any heat issues

Didn't know what I was missing.

Takes a bit getting used too, the High beam is SOO bright and shoots really high.

Im having a little trouble getting the socket lined up horizontally as there is no adjustment in the headlights.
Have to keep rotating the socket trial and error is all one can do to get the horizontal beam correct.

 

I find that the bucket itself also moves a bit and can ruin a perfectly aligned beam pattern. Also when you adjust the side to side the up and down shift and vise versa. What I always do after my adjustments is push on the headlight in the opposite direction to settle the headlight in the bucket so it doesn't do it while I'm driving.

 

Are you running the 35 watt ballast? I asked retrofit about the 50 watt Ballast for more light as an option and said to keep the ballast the same but use a different bulb, I forget what bulb that was

 

I'm running the Morimoto 50W bulbs and the Profile 35w/50w ballast.

No, in a NHK G5-R which is D2S. In the mini h1 I only ran 35w. You can still run the 35w at 50w but not sure on longevity. But there is an improvement. I tried it with a set of 35w D2S bulbs and ran them for a bit till I got the 50w.

 

Haven't tried to. I have them in the 98 housing and it's close to the lens but fits w/ no mods.

 

Yea, ok, 7x6 are smaller and the mini h1 barely fits in as it is.

I really like them as well. The only thing that would make them better is an ECE cutoff like the D2S 5.0's have.

 

Very cool thread guys. I like innovation and creativity. I really wish the second gen headlights had metal housings because these plastic junks are crap.

 

How bout the bulb retainer area? That part on the mini H1's isn't really sealed all that great, where the bulb goes in.. I think we smashed a ball of Butyl rubber around the bulb iirc.. Did you wash your engine bay recently?

 

You need some venting. It also helps to have silica gel desiccant packs. Some Hella's have them built into the vent tubes. A lot of retro fitters hide them where they can inside the headlight. Being a 200mm rectangle your only option is behind the shroud.

 

I bought these off Amazon for the rear of the lens, will install them next week.
These will help seal up the backs of the lens

So other than JB weld, what are we using to hold the projectors to the housing? Also, once we get everything powered up what is holding the bulb in the projector? I have a feeling my set up is going to be hitting the battery

 

Go and look at the photos on this thread from the beginning, all your answers are there,
You don’t need any JB weld,
It all depends on what bucket you got, the metal and glass once I goy DO NOT hit the battery,

You use the nut that comes with the kit and that threads onto the bulb stem and you tighten it down,
When you do this you have to make sure the bulbs are level.
