You can be in charge of calling the log trucks. GMRS is definitely better, and the recommended solution.

    Heck yeah.

Grab a ton of grounding straps and bond your whole truck if you're pushing that kind of power. It's maybe $20 worth of material and will keep you from frying stuff in your truck. If you need any help let me know.

Also, if you're using the full bucket, try to get that antenna over your head if it's not already. Sounds like a cool rig!

You could keep it there. I'd just dial back the power. Really, you shouldn't need more than 50w anyways.

For grounding you connect all metal body surfaces with these straps. Horizontal surfaces see the biggest impact. Also, the exhaust.

Hood to body, doors to body, body to frame, bed to frame.

@Arcticelf You thinking of running the same route / destinations (the locomotives) as last year? Or thinking of something different this year?

No sir. We stayed at the Round Pond site on the first night last year as I recall. The one Jim and I posted recently in the Maine thread was due North a ways.

Definitely locomotives again. Otherwise completely open to suggestions. The ice caves might make a good day 1 stop.
