HIDs vary wildly as the aftermarket stuff is all over the map in quality and output. But if you are running a quality set of HIDs, there is no comparison in terms of output. HIDs will win by a a complete landslide. However, HIDs will have illegal levels of uplight (glare) in a halogen projector, as the projector is not meant for a light source that bright and is still designed to provide up light, which is not very kind to oncoming drivers. The opposing blade LED design actually significantly reduces uplight in a projector as no light shines immediately forward of the LED, to the extent of it being a fault. All my tests use standardized measurements, so you can compare the LED measurements to the HID ones in the 3rd Gen Headlight thread.

Of course. Lots of updates including these are linked at the top of the original post in the main thread. The Toyota OEM LED fogs are my recommended budget LED option, coming in at higher intensity than Morimoto at a lower cost while also being an OEM part.

I'm curious, is the insert completely opaque or is it translucent?

The looked just like the original sae lens but with black inserts to fox the upward light issue.

I couldn't get it down to 240, only 256. None of the codes would apply. Not welcome 15 on my first order, nor save10. Any ideas?

Your buying the type B kit. The $240 was for just the lights. $256 is the lowest you will find the type B

The type B fit stock Tacoma bumpers. The others are just pods with universal brackets

there are no codes, Rome is right 240 is just for regular lights you must be looking at a vehicle specific kit with special bezels and what not. I don’t drive Toyota’s so I don’t deal with any of that stuff

After watching the thread and soul searching I canceled my Baja Designs Order and ordered the Diode Dynamics Pro SAE.

Im a big believer of BD and have purchased a lot of their lights for work vehicles...but in the end this is a hack fix. :(

It’s absolutely a hack fix. I can’t believe I spent $430 on these things. Total buyers remorse.

Me too man I went back and forth and really wanted to give them a chance, ALL my other lighting is BD but I ended up canceling the 2 sets I had ordered and ordered 2 sets of SS3 pros instead. At least they look and sound like Baja Designs lights lol

How long have you had them? They have a 30 day guarantee, if you’re in that window they’ll take em back.

Plus; the light you bought is not the same as after their fix. They should own the fact that they made an error and work with customers to make it right.
